Anyone know what size (and where to find) well nuts to replace some of the ones on our bikes?

I have an S3T, and the oil in the air cleaner has ruined the well nuts that hold the bracket for the leg fairing to the bottom of the air cleaner (there's also some serious misalignemint issues for reasons I can't figure out - some "user made" holes from the previous owner and the fairing dosn't like up right with the air cleaner, so I'm going to make a new bracket).

I have some at home but i cant remember what the part number is at the moment. I have a whole bag of these sitting in my parts drawer.

On my Zx10 i made some new well nuts using small slices of a rubber hose and little nuts that fit the bolt. And i sandwiched the rubber between the fairing and the nut and just tightened them down. They are actually working better than the stock ones ever did.

Not a bad idea. I may just see if the local hardware store has some... seems some people say they carry them.

The well nuts are based on the bolts thread size. I think it is a 5/16 thread, not sure. Take the bolt in and the well nut to a Fastner store and they will hook you up cheap. You can get a bag for the price of one at the Stealership...

Most of them, at least the one's that are used to hold on S2 bodywork, are 1/4" X 20tpi. The OD of the rubber plug is 1/2".
I got a box of them from McMaster Carr a while back, when I had my RS with the S2 glass on it.

I've seen them at hardware stores, especially ones that have all the hardware in those little bins.

Just bought some for remounting inner rear fender on my S3 form local hardware store. Take the screw with you or better yet, buy new stainless screws. Mine were 1/2".
