I just cant get over how much of a permagrin I have after installing my Keda RT1 with Deans new quiet insert. Me--------> Ive had the Keda RT1 for a while but removed it. I loved the sound (really loved the sound) but the volume level was too loud for my liking. IMHO all aftermarket 1125 pipes are far too loud for street use. I felt kinda bad leaving the neighborhood at 5:30am. Keda recently started selling a quiet insert for, I believe, all of his pipes. The quiet insert doesnt look like much. Honestly, I held little hope for it to do much of anything, but I was wrong. It sounds perfect. I honestly have never heard a better sounding exhaust on anything ever. Looks nice too.

I wonder if he would do a Ti version? Looks sweet! How about a sound recording or video? EZ |

Thinking of changing exhaust. I currently have a D and D and it is LOUD. The loudest bike i have ever owned. How does your compare to the stock one with the quiet insert? Did you lose power going with the insert? There is a nice Keda f/s in the classified. Just don't want another LOUD pipe. Would rather go back to the stock one which i have |

The D&D IS Loud. The keda RT1 without the quiet insert is still alot quieter than a D&D. With the insert it is the same RT1 sound, only more mellow. The idle volume is far more acceptable for sitting in traffic and slipping in and out of the neighborhood. At HWY speeds its still loud enough to get the attention of the car next to you but without people giving you the stink face. Im not sure if recording the sound of this thing will be doing it any justice because all I could do it with is a cell phone. I do have an awesome phone but I doubt it could capture this pipes awesomeness! Best I can describe is deep mellow rumble like a big block with a nasty cam and a high flow muffler. Im sure the insert drops a couple HP but nowhere near what the stock pipe drops. Im very picky about my pipes. I didnt want a loud pipe and while I sort of like a quiet pipe I dont like how invisible I feel in traffic. I also find that with my ear plugs I have a harder time leaving a stoplight smoothly because I cannot hear the engine lugging so its hard to be smooth with the clutch without watching the tach. When I can hear the motor I am very smooth. |

Thanks for answering back so quick. I like a little noise to my pipes. But when you can hear my bike coming from 1/4 mile away with a full helmet on it is too loud. I don't really care about what cars think of it unless there is a cop in it. LOL. But it is uncomfortably loud for me even with earplugs and full helmet.. |

How does it compare to a Vance & Hines slip-on? Sound wise that is. I've got a V&H with the race ecm and forcewinder on my 1999 X1 Lightning and would like to know if it's about the same or quieter than a 1125r with the quiet core Keda RT1. Sweet looking exhaust there Rpm4x4 (Message edited by two_seasons on May 01, 2011) |

I also wonder what it is like accelerating at WOT. I was at Willow Springs and a guy had an FMF pipe on his 1125R. It sounded fine at idle (great tone, pretty quiet), and only a little louder if he blipped the throttle. However, 5k in neutral is a LOT different than 5k RPM in 3rd gear and full throttle accelerating down the front straight! Even 1/2 mile away, that thing was stinking loud! The owner was unhappy that every cop within 5 miles could hear him coming. I'd have to say that is putting it mildly! I'd love a chance to hear the Keda with the quiet core installed (love the look, too). Any 1125R owners in SoCal have one installed? |

There are at least 2 or 3 out there (within 30 miles of you) that I can think of off the top of my head, but none have the quiet core in them. |

Ive never heard a V&H on an x1. Its slightly louder than my XB9 with the latus at idle but quieter at higher rpm. Hope that helps. If you havent heard a latus its slightly louder than a drummer but similar sound IMHO. However what I like about this pipe is the awesome sound it makes at an enjoyable/acceptable volume. BTW, Im running an Erik Buell Racing ecm and as others have already said (but worth saying again) It makes the bike smoother through the whole powerband and more powerful. |

Now that I look at it.... Looks like its just from the heat. Does anyone know if any of the high heat header paints will hold up or possibly the spray on high heat powder coat. |

the bike needs a chin fairing to cover up the area where the pipe goes. |

Swoop, its just high heat paint for bbq. I like it because I can easily touch it up. Thats what I also used on my XB for 4 years. Every spring I hit it with a scotch brite and reshoot it. |

Rex, I totally agree. I tried to make a chin spoiler last year but I didnt like it and it was scraped. I really should try again. I still think it looks better like this than stock. |
