PM's go to your email Mat, the one you use when you set up your profile here. No attitude inteded to be read here, just a polite advisement. My Yahoo acct frequently filters badweb PM's to my spam mail. Clear them as "not spam" and they'll be okay for a while, keep your eye on that spam acct though. It didn't used to do this, then the last year or two I guess they made their filters more active or something... |

Okay, sorry to take the thread off topic then. I hope you find your fender. My Buell carbon X1 fender has gone green and will be painted black. Get a good clear coat on it if you get the carbon. HD puts out some excellent scratch removers and polishes so if the one above isn't all tore up you can prolly clean it up for about $15 in materials. |

No worries. Thanks but the one above turned out to be for an xb. Why are they so hard to find? They want - i think - 230 at the dealer for one |

The XB and late X1 plastics (01+ or just 02?) are all injection molded colored plastic, Surlyn, and they were intended to be easily repaired or replaced (I've polished out some nasty looking scratches from the Surlyn product). The early parts were painted though, that's gonna cost more, especially now that they aren't really selling many. You may want to buy a early one of any color and have it painted locally. Surlyn is a bit flexy, so the older parts take paint a little better. I have painted my chin fairing with that Krylon Fusion paint, it's supposed to bond to the plastic. It's holding up fine, but won't give you the finish quality or the regular paint parts. Paint codes are available in the K.V. under the Body section if you want to go that way... The factory carbon has always been pricey, but so has A.S.B.'s but theirs seems to be the best. |
