Ok, I put the engine back in the frame last night and I was buttoning up the wiring and found I had a spare wire. I went to my stash of photos that I took before I took it apart and found that it was not used when I first got the bike. These were taken before the restoration. (1997 S3T running bike)

Is that a plug leading to a disabled sidestand safety switch? |

The side stand switch is plugged in. It has a smaller White connector. It's located just below the oil bag. Before I took the bike apart I put 800 miles on it, to see what needed to be done. I checked the operation of the clutch safety switch, front and rear brake light switches and the side stand switch (so I thought). You can see it directly under the oil bag.

Any other thoughts? I will get the battery back in the bike by Friday (new on charger) to check full system operation. Thanks |

That looks like the wire and location that goes to the hugger mounted tag light in mt S1W. Why it would be on an S3 I have no idea. If you have an electrical meter, see if its ignition switched. Can't think of what else would be down there... |
