Okay. My brother wants a motorcycle. He got a Buell Blast 2001. It's a fun little bike but here's the problem. As you rev under WOT you hit a point that the bike starts popping and loosing power. This was a little odd so we brought it in, took off the intake box, (good lord that thing is tight.) And we began to start inspecting this thing. #1 there is "rebuild" silicone around the cylinder head seal. #2 when the motor "pops" it starts spitting out fuel/air mix onto my leg...notice it's not a ball of flame so it's not a standard backfire. #3 The harder you push it the sooner it starts popping. So we're starting to wonder why there is rebuild silicone around this thing and the carb is puking out fuel/air mix. So far the only reason I can think of that we are getting mix shot out the carb is that our intake valve is closing halfway through the compression cycle. The reason this is my problem is that I'm the main mechanic in the house and I'm trying to get into motorcycles myself. So I'd like any suggestions you guys have. Thanks! |
