hello, all problems gone, bike runs good now, i will step on track for the first time in my life... so im looking for some advices on suspension, i know its personal and depends on lot of things, but maybe just some advices for a better starting point? i did the sag thing myself, seems would work somehow, but i know nothing about damping set ups. less than 200lbs with gear, for a CR . so, any suggestions plz? thanks! greetings! Set it reasonably. Try it. If there's something you don't like about the way the bike handles, ask a suspension guy or someone with a single digit number and a white plate on their bike for their ideas. Adjust one or two clicks at a time, and only one thing at a time. Repeat until happy. |

I believe that for track use, the Buell-suggested suspension settings for your weight should do quite well. Those settings are fairly aggressive already. They are for a "fully loaded" bike, meaning a fully kitted, rider, luggage, etc. Even the damping on those suggested settings are pretty firm. For the street, I found that setting the sag for my weight and then setting the damping for the next lighter weight settings worked best for me. This gave me a nice riding bike yet still maintained very good damping control. I know I may have to turn the damping up just a smidgen (half a turn at most) when I hit the mountains and ride aggressively. If I were hitting the track, I would stick with the Buell settings and only make half a turn a time if needed. Those dampers are very effective and make a noticeable difference with small adjustments. (Message edited by rogue_biker on March 20, 2011) |

congrats on making the move to the track... what track ? there are baseline settings in your owners manual if i'm not mistaking?... it's not perfect but it's a fair starting point..being it's your first time they should work just fine...if not 99% of the time track people are always willing to help out...don't sweat it... go out and have a BLAST !!!!......tire presure is your biggest " track prep" |

If you can find a good suspension guy, it really shouldn't be that much to set it up for you. Most places will charge shop rates for setting suspension but often you can find a real suspension guy that will do it right for a good price. |

ty guys... yes right, i forgot the tyres! seems lower pressure works better? i also have rear tyre repaired once, with a reamer repair kit, is that dangerous :S ? |
