I have a "new" charging system which I have collected after racking up about 9000miles on my '09 R

Would YOU chance a road trip from SoCal to Colorado?....

Im making plans!!

Sounds like you really want to go, so, I'd regret it if I didn't.
Are you near San Diego? I'm doing a cross-country trip, starting in Connecticut, in June on my '08R. Can you recommend a place for a tire change? I'll be around 3500 miles by the time I get to San Diego.

^ google up a few shops on the way and check what kind of tire/ time availability they have and if needed pre order a tire to them.

As for the road trip... No offense but you're actting like the bike will fail. You have fixed it. Ride it. If you are gonna get scared to do trips on it due to reliability concerns best you sell it. Just say'in..

Although cheapest in town I think is Oceanside Cycle Supply

Im going for sure.... (about to order some saddle bags)

I know what you mean... had a issue recently with my car. Vacume leak but AFR would go to 20:1! Now even though all fixed up I find I keep my eye on the guage and sometime second guess myself where it should be at certain throttle/rpm levels.

Just go. If you can, ride the bike a bit just to make sure all is well and the new stator is working. Re-check fasteners.

If all is well, let her loose across the country!

One thing I did do is spend about $120 on a good set of tools to fill my tool bag. All these new tools are meant for all fasteners on my 1125R. Just in case you know....the toolkit that comes with the bike is only for adjusting your bike's suspension.
