Hi All, I know its been asked before but when reading old posts could'nt find an answer. My Tach is off, when at idle it shows just below the Zero, but could'nt remember where the needle sits when off,does it normally sit at zero? mine at the moment sits well into the orange lcd when off? when I turn the key the needle sweeps up to about 10K, it does'nt hit the redline. Was wondering if any of you could have a look at your bikes and let me know. I know it should read around 1250 at idle,but was wondering if only the idle was out and then read correctly when up to speed. Mines a CR so if any of you with CR's can remember speeds/rpm in say 4th, 5th and 6th that would be helpful. I seem to remember that 2500rpm in 6th was 60mph when looking a few weeks ago. For those of you that have had this issue is there a way to reset it? or has the tach needle moved on the spline if it has one? Or is the only fix a new cluster?? 4000rpm in 6th is 60mph The fix is getting the cluster replaced. | ||

Just answered my own question with this pic, seems the needle sits on zero when off, as stated mine is sitting down over the LCD screen.. So guess the question is can it be fixed?  | ||

If you replace the instrument cluster, how do you put the original mileage back on? My bike has around 4000miles, should the cluster give up the ghost after so little miles??? Anyone else had the same problem at a similar mileage? If so how long did it take to get a new one? | ||

I'm fairly certain that the odometer reading is shared somehow with the ECM and this requires them to "link" or "mate". When the new cluster is installed and mated the milegae will be transferred. "Anyone else had the same problem at a similar mileage?" Some of the clusters don't seal well, and some of them just go out. There have been a couple of revisions. "If so how long did it take to get a new one?" That will depend on the dealership and the parts warehouse. I would *assume* that you should be able to get a new IC relatively quickly. | ||

The odometer reading is stored in the ECM, after 30 minutes of having the cluster connected it will sync up with the ECM. | ||

they just came off of backoreder on the 18th hurry and get one soon before i use them all | ||

they just came off of backoreder on the 18th hurry and get one soon before i use them all ive got a spare! my original one messed up once and the tach was off, so used the warrenty (finally over a year later) and snagged the old one as a spare  | ||
