I just installed a ulysses clutch spring in my 99 S3. It feels like half the effort to pull, well worth the $28.

You have a part number for that?

soooo... from my common deductionary logic.

This would make my clutch slip a bit more with the stock torque spring in the middle of the clutch pack, yet probably kill the harshness of the clutch when replaced with an extra clutch plate....

hm. perfect.

Hey there. Just a couple questions. Does it install in all the 1200's like the M2's? Does it increase the chance of slipping? Does it decrease the amount of grip for the clutch pack. Is it a drop in job so you just need the spring? Any other things we need to know? Thanks for the info. Cannot wait till the sand and salt gets cleaned up here in WI.

I don't know the compatibility for other models, you can do a search and find out. My clutch doesn't slip with the Uly spring, I tried a full throttle roll on going up a hill in 3rd, no slip. I would guess that it has less clamping pressure. I didn't need any other parts other than a quart of oil, but the factory manual advises to discard and replace the primary case gasket and the inspection gasket. I did not, just applied a thin film of silicone rtv to the case gasket. No leaks.

I got mine off'n a eBay for about $12.
Way better clutch pull, noticeable right away. I don't know about slipping, I take it easy on the gas. Would this being designed for a (slightly) off-road bike change the characteristics of slippage allowed, like on purpose?

All 06 XB models use that same spring, its not Uly or offroad optimized.

A 99 S3 should be the same basic engine. Hey Froggy or any others out there. If you have tried it in a M2 or the like hows it work for you. I hate to wreck anything trying it.

I recently put the '06+ spring in my 2004 Lightning...what a difference!!! When I went to Daytona, it was endless crawl speed bumper to bumper...it sure helped keep the hand cramp monster away.
