I just got a used tank bag for my X1. Does anyone know how these go on? Does anyone have pics? It looks like two of the straps might go around the tube frame in the front, but where does the third go? Does it get pinched in where the tank goes into the bracket? |

The tank bolt goes thru the rear strap , but X1's don't have a bolt holding the tank down I take it. |

What does the 3rd strap look like? Is there a loop on the end? If so, wrap it around some part of the frame under the front of the seat and pass the free end through the loop. |

Yeah, the strap for the rear of the bag goes under the u-shaped bracket that holds down the rear of the gas tank. FWIW, the factory kit came w/2 replacement bolts that are 1/8in longer. The front straps loop around the frame tubes in front of the tank cover. I went to a sporting goods store and got a couple of feet of nylon webbing strap of the right width, then heated a nail with a torch and burned a hole in the strap. This way I could attach the straps w/the front hold down screws for the fuel tank cover, like the XB bags attach. For me, a neater appearing installation. Hope this helps, Dave |

Thanks, I wonder if it would still fit with the factory bolts, or do I have to go to the dealer and find the longer ones. |

I've got the factory bolts in mine, have had for about 10 years now. No problems. I don't know which bag you have but it sounds just like my Amigo bag. |

As Kyrocket has proved, the original bolts work fine. And there is nothing special about them; replacement/longer ones are available at Ace Hardware, Lowes, Home Depot, ect. |
