I installed a Jardine pipe on my 2003 buell xb9 and it is running way too lean with the stock ecm and filter. Any suggestions? race ecm and filter? |

You might want to post this on the XB board too. Sorry I don't have and answer for you. |

Race ECM and filter. That should fix it. Ride to the edge! Dave daves@h-dappleton.com |

maybe a dumb question, but you did take it out onto the freeway and hold it at 30% or below throttle for a little bit to reset the AFV for the new pipe, right? I guess it doesn't surprise me that it may be running a bit lean, but I've seen bikes that had only a pipe on it that ran pretty darn good. I'm not saying that they wouldn't run a little better with a filter/ECM, but WAY too lean with just the pipe isn't typical. Still, I'd do the filter and ECM anyway. rich is good. |

Dumb question. I wanna learn. How did you determine the bike was running lean? I have heard on FI bikes reading the spark plugs is not as solid a way as on bikes with carbs. enquiring minds wanna know! |

Ja99oe24, I have a Jardine on my 9R and only mods since the pipe were the addition of a K&N filter and I pulled out the snorkel. I still plan on buying the race ECM when the budget permits, but the the bike is running like a champ without it. By the way, did you happen to get the steel mounting brackets for your chin fairing? The aluminum ones my pipe came with lasted about 2 days before rattling in half. If you haven't got the steel, call the manufacturer and request they send them out to you. |

Isn't the computer learning and adjusts for these things? As for rattling - become good friends with a bottle of loctite. |
