I was changing my burnt out low beam and ran across a third set of wires coming out the back of the head lamp housing. does any one know what this third set of wires is for? It looks like it is supposed to have I guess another light plugged into it. I looked in my manual and it did not say anything about it. any info would help. bulb style color.... I bought my bike new and found it odd not to have anything plugged into it. |

It is a parking light used on the European bikes. The outlet is hot, if you like you can stick a wedge bulb in there, people usually get a colored LED one, it looks great for taking photos when you are taking photos when the key is set to park. |

It is a requirement to pass Euro regulations, it would cost more to make another headlamp assembly and harness without the extra outlet. In fact, starting with the 09's they come with a bulb already installed to keep things more in line. If you look closely at any bike that is sold in the US and EU, they will just about always have that position light on while riding. It is faint and hard to see over the headlight on most bikes, but some bikes put it further away. |

Thanks again. I guess you could use this to run auxilary lighting such as led lights to illuminate motor or what ever you wish? Does it have its own fuse or is it wired in to something else as well? |
