Hi all, I've got a 2003 XB9s. currently running with the race ecm. D&D Exhaust. K&N High flow filter CIA carbon airbox (cutouts) Contacted Erik Buell Racing for a new ecm, however they have nothing that's suited for this setup. Does anyone have a "Fuel Map" that can match, or even close. photo included.

Contact www.twinmotorcycles.nl mailto:info@twinmotorcycles.nl http://www.fuelsolutions.nl/ They do a lot of dyno tuning and testing for programming the ecm http://www.fuelsolutions.nl/index_files/Page449.ht m They are very helpful ,so it's worth a try! |

Thanks to everyone whom has responded. I've taken the bike in for a service (Harley/Duc Race&Drag bike specialists) they have access to a dyno and software to completely re-map the ECM to current conditions and what's been added to the bike. Once it's done, I will post again, let you all know the results. Will get a backup of the MAP, for anyone who's interested. Cheers, ride safe guys. |

That exhaust has a very bad design for a Buell. It looses all torque on low RPM even more then the stock exhaust is making. I tuned that setup for a customer and we rebuild the engine to a bigbore, because he ride it with the stock ECM too long. We gained 35 NM of torque by only using our Torque Hammer exhaust. http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp? guid=YXHFSC&aid=3085&cid=110&s=&a= I recommand to sell the exhaust and buy a product that gives you the torque and makes the bike run as it is ment to. |

its a mid range pipe as it looses low and high but gains mid very well. If you get the 5 gas analizer you can get the low back with timing changes to get the NO and CO set correctly. You cant do that on a dyno jet, you need a steady state dyno to do it. no way around that. Like the eddy pro dyno. (learned the hard way) The d&d is a good inner city street pipe but out side of that its no good IMO as well. IMO buy a drummer if you state side or a special ops. but buy a pipe that fits how you ride not a wot pipe who rides their most of the time... pipe = rpm range you use the most ,get that pipe to be the most happy. |

bullshit, you cannot get low back with timing, because the design is wrong. In your theory every bad exhaust can make good with timimg... sleep well.. the D&D is a bad slipon for the Buell, I have never a bad slipon exhaust like that even worse on a XB9. Because it's a XB9, the exhaust choise is very important and it is not the D&D. |

So many interesting comments. Well, from the correspondence from Erik Buell Racing and from a tech guy here, it looks like the D&D does need a customized fuel map that can fully utilize the excellent mid range that it can provide. Erik Buell Racing hasn't developed one as yet (drawing board) I can get one customized for the conditions here, fuel used, way I ride etc.. By a prof team that build race/drag bikes (Harleys & Duc. V-Twins) So this looks the best answer. Also looking at adding a big bore kit, so will have it dyno tuned after the rebuild. Cheers guys for all your input. |

Briz, make sure your tuner guys are familiar with tuning Buell ecms and use of ECM-Spy software. Because of the learned fuel area of the map some tuners can get things buggered up.Too bad,my good friend,Greg Watters, near Melbourne,is experienced with tuning Buells. |

American Sport Bike has exactly what you need. I can even say that I helped develop it too. |

Then talk to my friend Skully. He did some fine tuning on the American Sport Bike mapping and is very happy with it, yes 2003 XB9 with D&D and aerated airbox with K&N filter. I've ridden it, excellent tune. |

>>> its a mid range pipe as it looses low and high but gains mid very well. Truth. Nothing stronger in mid-range that I've seen anywhere. |

I may have mis-spoke. I cannot find the mapping offered on American Sport Bike. Might be discontinued? |

Hey Thanks Blake, I've sent a message to Skully and Joanne at American Sport Bike as I recently purchased the CIA Carbon Airbox cover. I would be very interested in trying to get one of those maps.. Just wish to say, thanks to everyone state side whom has offered some input and help to all my recent questions. I'm probably going thru a mid-life crisis here, finally paying some attention to my Buell, it's such a sweet ride.. Final question.. Adding a "bolt-on" 1050cc kit from Rev.Perf. the little extra cc's, is it worth getting. $$ vs Increase. (as can land one in Australia for $1k.) Cheers.. |

Briz31, It all depends on your expectations.. What do you think to achieve with the 1050 KIT?? Sometimes it's better money to get a race lisence, because you then get more out off the bike (-: |

http://www.americansportbike.com/Exhaust_Shootout. html xb exhaust shootout. See real numbers even spreadsheets and dyno run files. stock xb with D&D as per asb "hp 84 and tq Ft lbs 68" thats Tq 92nm on a stock bike. no kits... stock xb9 with D&D and air filter. see shootout online pick your pipe to how you ride to be most happy with the choice IMO. |

The D&D pipe on a 2003 XB9 with an open airbox and a revised fuel map is a real hoot to ride. There is not much better that I've seen between 3500 and 6500 RPM. There are pipes that are better over the full range but on the street, I ride mostly between 3,000 and 6,000 so the D&D suits me just fine. When I purchased the D&D for my bike back in 2003, there weren't as many choices are there are today. I'm not sure that I would make the same choice today but I don't regret it. I was in the same boat as Skully. D&D was the only after market pipe I could find in 03. I did the race ECM and K&N soon after and loved that setup for many years. Enjoy. |

Cheers Guys for all your help: Well after many sleepless nights I've decided on these little mods for the Buell XB9s.. (as shown in earlier photo) 1. NRHS Stage 1 CNC porting of the heads. 2. Rev. Perf. 1050cc Bolt on kit. Then once completed compliment this with a custom fuel map. 3. Take it for a decent ride!!! |

let us know how it turns out because I sure would like to give my bike similar treatment if I ever have to tear it down. |

Slight correction: Well after many sleepless nights I've decided on these little mods for the Buell XB9s.. (as shown in earlier photo) 1. NRHS Stage 2 (light) CNC porting of the heads with new valves, springs etc. 2. Rev.Perf. 1050cc Bolt on kit. Then once completed. 3. Compliment this with a custom fuel map. 4. Take it for a decent ride!!! |
