Anyone else burning oil? I put about a thousand miles on my bike since the last oil change, I always check the oil hot, and have had to add 2/3rd a quart of oil. Im using the HD 20-50 full syn... I know oil is like religion, but is anyone having to add so much oil? |

Got my 1125r with 4000 miles on it, did the 6000 mile service at 6300 and it dropped half way between full and the fill mark. Not sure what type of oil the dealer put in it when i bought the bike, full syn or regular. Had the dealer do the service for the warranty. Changed to Amsoil and have 8000 miles and hasn't gone of the full mark. I ride only street so far and ride fairly aggressive(for me haha), plan on doing some first time track days this spring and summer. |

I have used HD Synthetic and it does seem to burn through a quart after about 4000 miles or so. I will be changing oil brands now that me warranty is over. We will see if it makes a difference or not. |

EZ- how did you break her in? I followed the break in instructions to a T, I occasionally ride her hard but 90% of my riding is commuting it seems |

Crabby, you probably nailed the reason your bike is burning oil--"the break in." Or the oil check level is so bad on these bikes it's easy to get wild variations. Very frustrating. My buddy broke his 'Busa in very timidly and suffered from burning oil. I did the Motoman break in subject to the recommended rev limits from the manufacturer on my two Rs and as far as I can tell very little to no oil consumption. |

I kept it pretty much in the rev range allowed, per the recommended factory break in procedure, I did work it up and down its range for even ring wear. EZ |

Take it somewhere where you can thrash it hard...spend the day beating it like a rented mule...it will either break in, or break up. |
