I want to buy a damper for my 1125R. It's obvious how the Ohlins unit from Erik Buell Racing mounts. It's obvious how it works. I am wondering how the GPR mounts, and exactly how robust the unit is. I like the fact that the GPR is readily accessible. I don't know how it mounts. In the pictures, it looks like it might use the steering head cap bolt to mount to the upper triple. I don't know if I like that idea. I also wonder about that arm bolted to the frame. Just how strong is that? Right now, I'm leaning towards the Ohlins unit from Erik Buell Racing. I just don't have enough info on the GPR unit to decide yet. Suggestions? |

Im in the same boat as you, i dont really like how the GPR mounts. The Ohlins seems like it would be sturdier...lookin forward to where this thread goes... |

I like the GPR I don't race I got a CR and that sucker is always light in the front end on any hard accel. I will be getting one |

I have a GPR and it has performed flawlessly for me so far. Mounting is easy and straight forward. The arm is stout no problem.

Mackja, can you describe how the GPR mounts to the triple tree? Their website does not explain how it mounts. |

Mackja, Nice paint scheme. Do you like those grips? I bough a set of those last year and boy they were palm saver over the stock grips. |

I mounted the Ohlins because I did not like the look(read mounting)of the GPR. (My opinion, my bike) How often do you have to adjust the dampening on the fly that it has to be right if front of the fuel cap? |

I've posted on this before. The gpr is a fantastic unit. MASSIVe improvement on my CR. |

the GPR replaces the stem nut, with one that has threads sticking up about an inch. the bottom damper plate fits over that and a 1 and 3/8 inch nut holds it down against the top tree. 2 allen bolts attach the actual unit to teh plate. and the arm is obvious |

I've had the GPR on my racer for two years now. I'm not sure why mounting is a problem for others. Couldn't be more easy. It's also handy to adjust. I use a different setting at different tracks. Just reach out and touch it. You don't have to be off the bike on your knees to adjust it. When someone else rides my bike they can adjust it while they're rolling if they want. I do the same when I feel the need to. I'm not saying it's better than the Ohlins, it's just easier to work with. I'm sure the Ohlins is a good product because you see them on the pro bikes all the time. |

OK, so the GPR is easy to mount, and easy to adjust. What about the Ohlins? I've read how people had to get it 'just right' during mounting. I'm not worried about that. Is one design inherently stronger or better than the other for any reason? I want whatever works best. I'm not worried about looks as much as function and reliability. |
