On a cold pull around 150 degrees the bike made 133hp as soon as you get temperature in the bike you will see a consistent 9hp loss making 124hp. My conclusion is under heat the timing retards in the stock ecm. Possible reason for that could be emissions or detonation from the very lean stock maps for street use. Being its a consistent 9hp power loss when the bike gets around 160 degrees and up tells me its spark not heat. If it was heat the bike would keep losing power gradually. When you run the race ecm you will never get that kind of hp loss under normal temperatures 160 to 190 degrees, the power will be mostly consistent. I guess the better thing to really look at is the performance gain from baseline. If you don't have a baseline its useless I completely agree!! That's why I feel the whole exhaust shootout was a joke. They never tuned Erik Buell's stock marvel to its max potential ultimately shorthanding his engineering skills. What a shame!!} |

So the race ECM is plug and play unlike the older bikes where a tps reset required? If so that does make it an attractive option |

TPS Reset takes literally 10 seconds... not really a deal breaker IMHO. |

I'm used to the x-1 where a tps reset with ecm spy or some other system was required if you even unplgugged the ecm. Thanks. I'm learning. For sure going to remove the D & D slip on. It is WAY to loud for me and going back to stock can for now. |

to Spectrum: send Erik Buell Racing an email about the ECM. they don't sell race only parts with click to order. it catches me on the race brakes every time. with the proper mapping the stock exhaust is very fast and rideable. tim |

Tom_b > I came from an X1 too where a TPS reset meant having the equipment or a trip to the dealer. On the 1125's, you can do it in 15 seconds sitting on the bike in your driveway. I've never had to do one when putting my E B R box back in. It also goes to 2% - 100% like it should. I have done one to diagnose a throttle cable problem - Couldn't be easier! Mike |
