So, I was riding to work just a little bit ago and noticed that my HIDs were doing quick flashing really quick and bright. Is this normal or not? I just installed them about a thousand mIles ago and this is just starting. |

I notice my cluster at idle pulses dimmer then normal with every stroke o the motor. The HIDs those do it spiratically about 10-20 times a minute, and then it won't do it for a few minutes, and then go back to doing it. Another question. Every time my left controls get wet, my left blinker stays on until it dries. Is this warranty work to have it replaced, or do I just have to fork outthe money for a new one? |

Mine pulse at idle. It's been like that for 18K miles. I'm not worried about it. |

Spectrum, you talking about the cluster or the HID. I know the cluster is ok, even though i might make the dealership get me a new once since the tach needle slipped and is know showing 1k less than it should be, no biggy right now though. Here is a link to the bike and the lights pulsing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QWbJVVRJOU |

Not normal. Given both do it at the same time, I am leaning towards a wiring issue. |

well, i know my cluster only does it when it's at idle, but the HIDs do it any time they want whether it's 1,500rpm or 10,000rpm. On the ride by to the barracks, it didn't seem to do it as much as my ride to work. I also did wash her earlier today, could some water be were it shouldn't? |

not normal i would swap back to the reg bulbs and recheck to see if it's the bike or your HIDs |

Thinking about it some more, voltage regulator maybe? I know it will make halogen bulbs do that, but I don't know about HIDs. Does the tail light do it too? (Assuming you have the stock tail light) |

exactly when i watched the video it didnt look like the corners we flashing with the low beams which to me at least would indicate an issue with the hids not the bike |

hmm, i might have to give Al a call at American Sport Bike to see if he has had anyone say anything about them doing this. I'll look into it more tomorrow. Froggy, i didnt check to see if the back light was doing it too. Another note i would like to point out about running the Race ECM from Erik Buell Racing, it does seem to have a little more draw on the system. I've been running the ECM for about a month now with a new battery and the last couple of days, it's getting rough to start. I'm thinking i'm gonna have to go get a battery tender and bring my battery in my room once a week and let it get a good charge over night. There is no way i'm going back to the stock ECM or stock bulbs, kinda liking eating a steak a fine restaurant and then trying to eat one from an MRE, you just cant go back to eating crap |

The race ECM runs the fans a little more than stock, and idles a little lower, so if you are doing frequent short rides its going to have a harder time keeping the battery fully charged. Either way, a tender is cheap and can extend battery life. |

I've noticed that the fans kick on at about 171 degrees and stay on constantly until i turn the bike off. If i go for a nice ride that doesnt really get it worked up, the fans only stay on for about 5 seconds after i turn it off. If i'm riding it pretty hard they will run for about 15 seconds after i key it off. Quick question on that topic i guess, too. About how long would i have to ride it to keep the charge up. It's about a 10 mile ride to work and the engine is running around 3,000-3,500rpm all the time. Is that enough to keep the battery charged. I would go out for some nice rides, but i'm working 16 hours a day, 7 days a week right now, so i dont really have any free time to do any extra riding except to work. |

Well, found out that my stator just doesn't put enough juice out to keep up the battery. Started her up and road it down to the gas station and after I filled her up, won't start. Yay, guess I have to get a ride to work. Already have the battery out of the bike so I just need to buy a battery tender after work and start charging it up. |

I've been waiting on the DDM Hids to come back in stock to buy a set. I have the Erik Buell Racing ECM also and have had no problem with the bike (new wire harness installed). Wounder if I should just pass on the HIDs? I'm not swapping back to the stock ecm just to have the HIDs, the Erik Buell Racing is to nice. |

Nope. I personally recommend you take a longer route to get home; you and your bike will enjoy it more. Also, get that battery tender.

A problem with one person’s bike should not dissuade you from doing something that thousands have done without issue. |

Well, the problems just keep rolling out on this bike. I charged the battery over night and it was done by the time I woke up. Got a ride down to my bike this morning and put it in turned the key on. The headlights don't turn on, and the fuel pump doesn't cycle. Checked ALL the fuses and none of them are blown. The spotter bulbs come on and my instrument cluster comes on, but nothing else. Anyone have any ideas? |
