I added a 2009 XB12R to my Buell stable today. Does anyone know where I can find the suspension settings recommended in the manual for a 180lb rider? I normally go to the Buell website, but... I have been searching about and have come up empty handed. I found settings for several different years, but not the 2009. Thanks in advance |

Right above the topics on the XB page (where you posted this). 09 XB owners manual right there. I'm going for coffee. Cheers! |

Those pages have been removed because Harley wants to wipe the Earth clean of any trace they ever tried to make a sport bike. |

Good luck finding those settings. Hopefully someone would be willing to scan the page out of their owners manual. Maybe this can help? http://www.steveturnbull.co.uk/buell/thexbpages/xb handling.htm |

I would say +1 on Terrys1980. The Shawn Higbee settings are what I have on my bike, and it turns like a dream. |

The STT has a completely different suspension. . . if I recall. If someone want's to send me a PM and remind me . . I'll check the service and owners manuals and see what they say. |

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your input. I found a friend with a 2010 manual, so i went with that. I don't think was any suspension change for 2010. It feels pretty close. The front end is a little divey under braking, but I'm sure that will tune out. |

This will help . . BUT (my personal opinion) you may want to consider ordering this manual (Buell Part No. 99490-99Y - Any dealer, or better yet, American Sport Bike, Can get it for you. There are a number of pages related to suspension set up.

I just saw (on Feebay) a 2009 owners manual selling for an unbelievable $77 ! Yes an owners manual not service manual... |

Wow . . . you know there are thousands of them sitting in boxes somewhere and you can order them from any dealer. Okay . . . whatever folks feel inclined to do . . I guess. |

Guys, fyi the 2009-2010 forks internals are different from the other XB's so I would caution about using the Higbee settings as a starting point. |

Court you are quite amazing. I really appreciate you going out of the way to help me out. I will be ordering the manual (thanks for the part number), but I couldn't stand riding without having the suspension within range while waiting for the manual to arrive. |

Cool! . . . you'll really enjoy the manual. Buell does (did) manuals better than about any manufacturer. I see you are an audio engineer in LA . . I have a good friend, David McCallum (you are too young to recall the Man from U.N.C.L.E.) who has a son who is a studio musician in LA. David is a Cello player. Enjoy your bike ! |

Are the SCG settings the same as a regular height suspension? I just swapped my 03 regular suspension for an 09 SCG suspension, but not sure if it's the same settings as my 03 regular manual has or not... Any ideas since all those links are gone? ( and a big F-U goes out to Harley for that ) |

Eric, You will end up much closer much sooner if you start with preload on both ends by measuring sag directly: 35mm front, 25mm rear. you can use the "book" values to start damping for compression and rebound but sag is better measured and set the "old fashioned way" Come to Willow next race weekend and ask Shawn yourself. |

Court, If David is currently playing sessions in Los Angeles, we have certainly been in the same room together. The string recording sessions are so hectic that there typically isn't any time for socializing, but there are a ton of players that I know by appearance alone. Hey Slaughter, Thanks for the reminder to measure the sag. I traded my old 2000 Sportster dead even for the 2009 XB12R. So I have a sweet "backup" bike now. We are hoping to make it to the track soon. Crystal is starting a new job this summer, so hopefully our new income and health insurance will have me at the races! See ya soon. |

So you're gonna let that $77 owners manual get away huh ? I hope you don't regret it later... |

The way I see it...it's only $77.00, it must not be in very good condition, or its a scam. There is no way it is worth a penny less than $78.00. |

Point well taken. I would have been so pissed-off if I bought it and found out it was missin' pages or sumptin'. Could you imagine actually listing that thing for $77 ??? What a screwball. |

Ebay is a funny thing. I've seen Firebolt fairing brackets that were destroyed in a crash go for twice brand new retail. Sucker born every minute |
