Servus zusammen,
Last year I have bought the E.B.R. belly pan.

http://www.EBRacing.com/shop/product22.html

Maybe it was the wrong decision, but I got it installed in a HD workshop. First time it was much to high, it was tight-fitting to the muffler. But after some friendly words they put it deeper ("as deep as possible"). But after some hundred miles I have noticed, that I still getting heat exhaustion at the paint on the pan. And for me it's still looking like have contact in the middlepart of the muffler.

Anyway, now I want to cement a big fat glass fiber mat into the belly pan.

Now my question: Which kind of glue I should take? I Don't want to have a fire from the wrong one.

Most interesting I have found is Loctite 5399, silicon-based and proof till 300°C (570°F).

But maybe a heat-proof glue onto a glass fiber mat is not enough and the belly pan must be installed deeper?

I really don't want a Ferrari 458 Italia effect...

Greetings,
Pascal

under the mat you should be able to use hi temp silicone. they have one type that is good to 400F. i used it to glue muffler wrap to the inside of my race bike frame.

You could wire tie the mat to the muffler. That's what I did on my custom exhaust to keep some of the heat from transferring to the motor.

Horrido,
I have my decision: Loctite 5399 will it be.

The next question was: "how much?"

And that is something for us fans of the metric system..

One tube of Loctite contains 300ml. If I want to put a thickness of 1mm on the adhesion surface area and if the inner surface of the bellypan has a area of 1m² than I need how much tubes of Loctite?

Any idea?

No?

OK. I make it more easy for you:

300ml = 0,01oz
1mm = 0,04in
1m² = 11ft²

For this reason I now have ordered 3 tubes of Loctite.

Tschüssgens,
Pascal
