There are so many roads in America....
Deals Gap, I'm going so I can say I've been there, done that. Heck I may love it so much I go every year. I want know till I've done it.
Just got back from Big Bend area Southwest Texas ( way down there ) and had a blast. Yep will probably go back next year.
Want to travel to Sturgis area week or two before the rally and ride that area, want to ride the Pacific Northwest area too, many many place I want to ride.
It's why I bought a trailer.
Now, let's go have fun!

Ok... I am in... Should be there by Friday noon... But I will camp at Deals Gap... Not too into riding the Dragon... Too many squids... But want to check out the Cherry Cola... Maybe wander down to Suches on Monday... Dam great to be a local now!!!  |

Hey Vince- actually, I'll be shooting for Thursday now, they threw me a curve ball on the schedule at work- truth be told, I'd rather have the whole day off Thursday to ride than Friday or Saturday, when all the meats show up...
What's on your itinerary for Thursday? I may get some riding done Sunday too, but I understand most of the Buellage will be heading home by then.

Gofast: go SLOW thru the Gap a few times first, then maybe a little LESS slow, but I don't recommend "fast" unless it's early in the week and in the off-season. Each run through will be a little different- cue the tuner car meats who "clip" a corner and spit gravel across a turn, or the occasional 18-wheeler (!!!). And the po-po, local and state.
The white line is your friend, the double-yellow, not so much. Mitigate the risks and stay to the center-right of your lane.
There WILL be distractions on EVERY run through, including the moto-paparrazi- I know of NO other road that demands 110% of your attention 100% of the time like the Dragon.
Once you're here, do the Dragon by all means, but don't miss the Hellbender, the Cherohala, the loop from Tellico Plains through Reliance and Ducktown TN, et cetera.
And, PARTY with Vince and Pam!!!

We'll be there around noon Thursday. It will be just Dragon playtime as I like to call it, then we leave at 4:00 to go get some grub. Although April is not heavy tourist time, we use Friday and Saturday to go hit areas like Bridal Veil Falls, and the Cherohala and Suches. Nothing planned for Sunday, it's just a ride wherever you like day. Actually the whole event is a "ride wherever you like" thing, but people like group rides too. Sunday I'll be on The Dragon 'til it's time to go home. |

Well, I missed picking up my Taxes by 6pm, so I have to get them in the morning at 10am and mailing the money I owe off right after that  I was planning on leaving Salisbury by 5am taking my time on the road, setup my tent and rest before the ride at 4pm. Now I'll be bust butt all day and after my 5 hour ride try to make the 4pm ride... Great!  |
