Hey y'all. Trying to figure something out. I am in Hawaii and have a 99 X1. When I start the bike cold, it runs rough and if I don't give it a bit more throttle, it will die out eventually. When I am moving and it is still cold it seems as if it is missing randomly. After it has warmed up a tad things seem to run a lot better. Oh, and I should mentioin this. I had the top end rebuilt recently and am pretty sure all the gaskets involved were replaced. I read that there is a value that I can change with ECMspy for the cold start enrich. Is this correct. |

I read that there is a value that I can change with ECMspy for the cold start enrich. Is this correct. Correct!,I also have an 99 X1 with some engine mods. I had many problems on cold starts and I solved by subtracting 10 to the original value. The cold start enrichment is too rich until it reaches 22º Celsius temperature, up to 22º. I was set mine at -10º/170% and I have not had any further problems when I start the bike cold. Greetings. |

You may have weak or intermittent spark. 1999 was the first year of the six-slot cam position sensor trigger and new sensor design. I had misfiring problems for years with my '99 S3 which all went away when I replaced the cam position sensor with a Drag Specialties part. Be sure to get the single fire, and you may want to replace the trigger, too. |
