I searched for one as well last summer, they are rare. I ended up getting one from Erik Buell Racing, but they only had a few "blanks" left. |

Why do you need a Race ECM? You can load the Race fuel/timing maps onto your stock ECM. |

Apparently, and this comes from Harley and buell themselves. They say they are unable to tune the stock ecm enough to allow my bike to run. My bikes symptoms are: Will not hold a steady idle, spit and sputters around 2000 - 3500 RPM. Even once the bike is warm it will idle then just die. (i already adjusted the idle) Deely's (local Harley shop) tuned my bike the best they could but still no luck. I have the after market exhaust and intake. Now i do not know enough about the computers to say it can be tuned but what i do know is my dad has the same bike except the 99' model and has the after market heads, exhaust, and intake, along with the Race ECM and his bike runs just fine. I have contacted Erik Buell Racing and they say they might have a couple Race ECm left so i am just waiting to hear back form them in the New year |

Maybe this is just me but I would run as fast as I could from that shop. |

Your bike should not exhibit any of those symptoms you described because of the ECM maps alone. If it was me, I would first do a TPS reset and then check for intake leaks before spending my money on the Race ECM. |

What Kali said. Something else is wrong... check the intake seals. |

Total BS,tuned a bunch of X-1's. As said, check to be sure you have no intake leaks--seals are a maintenance item. Look to be sure the vacuum nipple on bottom of intake is sealed. And exactly how did they tune the ECM? Do they have a way to see what your AFV is, if so,what was it?ASK!!!! If they cannot do it find a good dyno shop and have them give it a go,if they are not familiar with ECM-Spy they can call me and I will be happy to help. |

And PM me if you need the Race fuel/timing maps. I have both "stock" Race maps and maps slightly tweaked for my V&H and Forcewinder set up. |

+1 to what Firemanjim said Thanks firemanjim and crew for tunning my bike and the custom fuel mapping. My bike is perfect now. You can always do like they said above and just flash the stock ECM with the race map because it free. But don't waste your money on a race ECM. I did then i had it custom mapped and tunned. This was before i knew you could just flash it or map\tune it. This is what my intake seal looked like when i had those similar problems.
My bike at jims shop! Man i can't wait to take more race school classes on this bike

I too, have the stock ECM in my 99 X1 thats equipped with a pipe and a K&N in the stock air box.Excellent drive ability ! The ECM had to have been reprogrammed. Think with the above advise suggested above, your on your way to having a nice riding bike. |

Hey, I live just north of Vancouver and have ECM spy, the cable and the race maps. Your symptoms sound like what i just experienced before i put my bike away for the season. Intake seals. Let me know if you want to use the cable and program to tune your bike. |
