I haven't seen anything here on the web so maybe this is a scoop. Here's the story: While walking around the pits on Saturday at Road America, Roger & I came across Greg White. I proceed to give him some sh/t about not having Buell's featured yet on TWT. Greg basically tells me I don't know a thing about his show. He tells me that they've had Buells on the show a number of times (unfortunately, it's been mostly just their motors in a chopper ) As I start to walk away, Greg pulls me aside. At this point, I'm thinking he's going to tear me a new one! Instead, he gives me a scoop..... Greg White will be racing a Buell XB12R in the Formula Xtreme race in Road Atlanta Does anyone know more info? Dennis |

As long as he doesn't blame the bike when he comes in last. Ride to the edge! Dave |

I don't think he came in last in the Boxer cup. He's a decent rider. |

Lake, To be fair, TWT has had Buells on easily as much as other manufacturers and not just for that chopper BS. Last year they had them on the show a couple times. GW is right. Plus it'd be cool to see him on the Buell for FX. He finished 2nd to last in the BMW Boxer Cup last year, so maybe he can improve at Road Atlanta. |

Greg White was an Expert caliber roadracer before he got his gig on the NASCAR channel. Cut the guy some slack. If 2WheelTuesday's ratings go down, I have no doubt we'll get to see more discussions about why the NASCAR inspectors shouldn't look for cheating quite so hard, or maybe a show where "Good Ol' D.W." gives his opinions on how to date NASCAR"s most eligible bachelor. |

I like NASCAR. Don't understand the animosity towards it. Go for the positive I like to say. Go AMA Pro Racing! |

I have nothing against NASCAR racing, it's seeing motorcycle related programming dropped in favor of more NASCAR related shows.last Tuesday, for example, we got to see the Craftsman Truck race from Dover, Inside Nextel Cup and NBS 24/7. The Formula Extreme race from Road America won't be shown until June 15. The point that I was trying to make is that if everyone continually slams Greg White and his show, Speed will be more than happy to replace it with more NASCAR marketing hype. The beauty of Cable is that the networks know exactly how many people are tuned to their channel. If nobody is watching, then they'll find a show that more people will watch. |

I met Greg at the Fontana race at the events the Thursday night before, just after the completion of his scooter across America trip. We even got to race him several races on the 4 across "Isle of Manx" simulators (like the ones that were at Hals). I came away reasonably impressed with the guy. Seemed like a straight shooter, had a little bit of humility to him. He knows he's got a great gig and he doesnt' credit much of it to his own personal greatness. Don Sabatino took him on one of the simulator races. He spanked us on all the others. I never watch his show though..don't get Speedchannel, they replaced it on my cable network with the Oxygen Channel.... |

ok ok ....I'll play along ...all things are rosy and fine and there is absolutely no room for improvement. But maybe thats why the ratings are no good....other than the fact that we get i hr a week. Yes greg was a good racer.....doesn't make him a good tv guy. But I digress all is well and nothing should change. |

I say screw it all and someone start up a MOTORCYCLE ONLY cable station. That everyone can get as part of the Standard package. Is there a reason none of the big networks have done this yet. there must be a reason. |

Country, There is WAY too samll a market of motorcyle racing people to make it affordable. NASCAR and all that other crap pays the bills so that MC stuff can get onto SPEED. |

Golin is right, we are lucky to get as much as we do. I dont know why anyone would bash GW, the guy seems cool to me. always respectful of guests (seemingly a rarity among show hosts these days) and always seems to know what hes talking about. have you guys ever watched horsepower tv? talk about show hosts with no color, id say GW is doing pretty good. |

been talk of the lack of cycle tv in the US for as long as I can remember , , , , this kind of coverage gets huge air time in parts of Europe, almost nothiung here . . . . . standard talk is that there isn't much bike stuff on tv, cuz no one watches . . . . . course, no one watches cuz there isn't much (10 AM on Sat morning on SPike, or spending 75+ dollara a month to get speed just ain't happenin in my house) chicken or the egg |

Greg White ain't doin' too bad, I don't think. Goodness knows I could do no better. As far as the bike market being too small, and being lucky to have what we have. The bike market here in the US is getting bigger. We've a long way to go as far as compared to Europe, but I can remember when golf was a niche market, and there's a golf channel now. I'd like to think we'll get what we want at some point. Remember what was on before "Then Came Bronson" or "On any Sunday"? Nuthin' Now look what we got. Granted some ain't worth more than comedy relief, but it's more than what we had. |

"75+ dollars a month to get speed" Dang! You can get it via Dish down here for about half that. Even on cable it's only $40. I have noticed significant improvements to the content of Speed's moto coverage of American racing. They now often have some of the top riders providing commentary during other races. It is the connection with the top racers themselves and even their teams that made NASCAR such a hit. That and it is a wonderful spectator sport. I find the TV coverage by Speed TV of AMAPR events to far surpass the coverage we get for Moto GP. The Brit anouncer who blathers on endlessly during Moto GP races has a supremely irritating voice that grates to the core of my spine. I gotta mute the sound. Dave DeSpain is a great interviewer and I appreciate the commentary by Dave Sadowski, someone who knows what the heck he is talking about. I love it when he'll notice and point out that one of the bikes is pushing the front. If I have it on tape I can go back and look at what he's talking about where I would otherwise not even notice. If they keep improving the show, motorcycle roadracing may garner more fans. I hope so. Maybe then we can see the FX races in real time or at least within a few days of their running.

DeSpain's aces! shed a couple of tears when he stopped doin flattrack announcing . . . the dish guy told me to start choppin down trees to get a good signal. . . . he was shown the door got do two or three cable upgrades before you get speed round here, but we get golf, oxygen, 3 shopping networks, and replays of 40 year old basketball games at the basic rate (I gotta move, I'm thinkin!) |

I say screw it all and someone start up a MOTORCYCLE ONLY cable station. That everyone can get as part of the Standard package. Is there a reason none of the big networks have done this yet. there must be a reason. Its because we are an extremely small portion of the general public. More people watch "queer eye for the straight guy" then ride motorcycles in this country. We as a whole are less than 1% of the population. |

Harley sales per year in this country are only about .1%...thats right .1% of the entire population. |

The only problem with Dave Despain is we only get his commentary during Daytona coverage. Otherwise it's that idiot Brian Drebber. I thought Mat Mladin did a good job during the RA Supersport race. To bad Drebber kept talking over him. Sadowski? he's made some pretty unobservant comments recently. I say let Pridmore and Mladin have the booth! |
