This winter I'm putting a carb on my S3. I have had countless issues with the fuel injection and never could get rid of the surging and bucking at low rpm's. Anyway...

One thing I know I'll have to either change or get rid of is the fuel pump in the gas tank. I would like to keep the same fuel tank. I remember from my days working on Fox body mustangs that when replacing mass air fuel injection with carbs you could run a fuel pressure regulator to dial the pressure back to work with carbs.
Is there any reason this also wouldn't work with a Vtwin. Or would it be better to pull the pump out and figure out some sort of valve, i.e. Pingle, etc...
Another reason to keep the fuel pump is the low gas warning light.

I'm also not sure what kind of pressure the Buell fuel pump runs at. I was thinking a carb needs about 7 psi but I may be wrong on that figure. Most of my old mustang knowledge transfers over to the Buell but I still find myself scratching my head at times. Thanks for the help.

Gravity feed is all that's required for a carb, install a petcock.

the pump should be @49psi, give or take a few pounds.

I wouldn't be putting 7psi into a carb. I would think the float valve would just let the gas right in.
