Tippster: noted that too, easy to forget that stupidity is gender-neutral. Freight dog: here in Ontario, if you can't keep up with the general traffic flow, even if the flow is way over the limit, you could be directed off the highway or charged with reckless. E.g.: 120 by yourself in a 100 could get you a ticket; 100 in a flow of 120, in a 100, could get you a ticket; 80 in a 100 could get you a ticket. It's not so ticket happy as it sounds. Usually, it's a direction. |

I read this one out of curiousity. Someone mentioned the frame being designed to come apart. I don't remember the exact wording. Yes it is designed to seperate the front end from the tank on front end collision. However, the tank will remained sealed. I would go with the observation that aluminum may have melted. Interesting. |

Wow - misogyny AND sanctimony in one thread. Kudos! Sorry, women make the best drivers and I haven't been almost killed by them on my motorcycle many times more than male drivers. Are all of you 14 posts similar to the one in blue above, Mr. Sanctimony? |

For what it's worth, I can honestly say that Doug was on his side of the road. The turn is a sharp right sweep and he was traveling around 35mph. My speedometer was reading 35 coming up to the turn before I rolled off the throttle and he wasn't gaining any ground on me. The road was really thin, a regular size truck would be pushing on the white and double yellow. I didn't see the impact but was coming right around the turn about 3 seconds later and had to cut hard inside to avoid the car in my lane, which caused me to hit his flaming bike. After bouncing for a good 10 yards I got up to see the car backing out of our lane and back into a field behind it. The cars front bumper left drag marks across the road before the passenger ripped it off and threw it. The police think that those marks are from Doug sliding all the way over into her lane, as in all the way to their white line. You'd think if he was bailing outwards on a right hand turn he would end up in the left hand lane but he ended up on our side of the road outside the white line in the grass. Also to whoever wanted to see what that kind of heat could do to your skin, here's a few pics of the aftermath. Two and a half months to be exact. http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/675/06222010031.j pg http://img337.imageshack.us/i/06222010030.jpg/ Edit: Here's a google earth view of the accident site. http://img577.imageshack.us/f/accident.jpg/ Red arrow indicates the direction we were traveling, orange X indicates where I believe the wreckage was when I struck it (hard to place it from a top down view like this,) and the blue arrows, although you could say is anecdotal, shows 2 cars over the double yellow. |

i know just how tight PA roads are. i grew up there and can tell you that there is heavy truck traffic is the area where this accident occured. even with that it's very common to see cars riding the center line as these roads are extremely narrow. i can only imagine the pain and slow healing your body is going through. i pray that both of you heal with all feeling restored too. |
