I need a favor. I have PM wheels on my 2001 S3. I'm taking them off and putting the stock rims back on. I was thinking that the bolts that hold the front brake rotor on are different between the two. Currently I have the bolts on my PM's that have a round head. I was thinking that the stock rims used the bolts with a flat head. Could somebody look at their front rotor and tell me what you got. Thanks |

If I remember correctly, the 99 rotor uses the panhead bolts (flat) and the new style rotor, which you probably have, uses regular bolts. It is the rotor that determines the bolt head type, not the wheel. The 99 rotor was machined to take the tapered bolt head. Of course, I could be completely wrong. |

Lafayette, that is so true, but Hootowl is right, too, in that the rotor type determines the bolt head type. For example, I used XB rear rotor bolts on my S1W to hold the Aftermarket Prolite rotor. They are perfect (even better than the OEM, since they are stronger where it counts, by being shouldered), and are cheaper than the Buell OEM tuber parts. |
