2009 1125R.... that I want to be the best it can be Is there any consensus on an fix for the charging system? I have the harness, new VR/RR about 3000mi ago my stator is fried at 6900miles Do I just take it to H-D let them fix and ride it? after nerw stator installed at dealer do I remove stator cover and grind off fins and extra epoxy to improve oil flow/ cooling? (and check H-D's work) how is ultimo's aftermarket rewind? is this an option? has anyone else tried this? Any other thoughts on MOSFET regulator? computer cooling fans for VR/RR My plan right now is suck it up and let the dealer do what they do.... oh and then go riding It just sucks riding a time bomb and wondering if you can make it home when you're on a long ride... middle of nowhere SoCal desert/mountains |

I am in exactly the same boat. |

i installed my MOSFET reg, yesterday, you can install it where the old one was but you must remove the lower mounting stud and use the upper one only i assembled everything with weather proof connectors it is a tight fit getting it in but did fine and has air clearance for air flow... |

My thoughts... While not ideal, the harness upgrade seems to provide enough voltage for MOST situations. Idling in traffic, in hot weather, with both fans running still concerns me. The harness upgrade seems to put more demand on the battery. It extends stator life, but will likely reduce battery life (time & miles will tell). While still under warranty, I'm not spending a dime on rewinds or aftermarket regulators. I am very curious to see the specs on the stator and regulator for the 1190RS. Perhaps they'll work on the 1125... |

I wouldn't be surprised to see the 08 1125 charging system on the 1190. I don't think I've heard of any failures from the 08's at all. 20k+ miles and counting, nothing wrong here with the charging on my 08. |

I think you're right D . I'll be going to the 08 setup after the warranty is up. We can't count on HD to do us right and fix it correctly. |

The only 08 I've heard of with electrical issues is Paul's(Chameleon) in the Northwest. He has over 60k miles and says his R/R is going, don't know any more than that. I have seen one confirmed stator failure AFTER the harness update. Loretta has 26k miles and ZERO electrical trouble, I'm inclined to go with the 08 charging system as a "Fix". Zack |

> I'm inclined to go with the 08 charging system as a "Fix". It's good mechanical advice, but poor usability advice. The 08 stator does not generate enough current to keep the battery charged at the under 4,000 RPM levels a lot of riders having 09 trouble insist on using. A tender will still be necessary, even if the bike doesn't suffer mechanical reliability issues. |

Why not try the Compufire regulator/rectifier. Supposedly DRASTICALLY reduces stator temps. Even more so than the MOSFET R/Rs. http://www.posplayr.100megsfree3.com/FH012AA_Charg ing/SSR_vs_FH012AA.pdf ac |

Not entirely correct. I have no charging issues with my 08 which almost never goes above 4000, and I even have some electrical goodies. In the winter I will see the battery light flicker at stop lights if I am running the heated suit, but otherwise its fine. |

I'd turn my high beam off if stopped at a light when the engine is hot (and the fans are running). |
