First off let me say that my derriere is of the bony type and is hard to please. I have had four seats on my XB12R- stock, Buell Custom Seat, local upholster and now my current seat. The issues with each seat was as follows: Stock did not have enough cushion. Buell Custom had foam that was too soft. Local upholster was hard as a rock with lots of gel that held enough heat to blister my butt. The new seat came as a kit that I had to put together but that was easy to do. It is not quite as firm as my wife's seat that I built with Sargent's foam but close and much firmer than the Buell Custom Seat. After 250 miles on it between the past 2 days and I really like it. Today was about 200 of those miles and by the end of the day it was starting to break in and conforming to my rear. It seems like I get more feedback from the road than with the Buell Custom since you don't sink into it when on the throttle. I figure after about 1000 miles I should have a good idea of any negatives but for right now I have none. fwiw, I gave up on estimating and guessing on seats. I bought padded bicycle shorts, you can get motorcycle specific ones. I can ride from fill up to fill up now. That would be about 200k intervals easy. About $50. The seat you put together looks good. Is there a link to the kit? | ||

Seat Concepts had a shot at a group buy for 1125s but they didn't want to become sponsors. Too bad. As I said at the time, most small businesses would give their left arm for cheap access to guaranteed sales. | ||

A DYI yourself may be somewhat a small deterrent, but most of the other big seat companies have you send in your seat pans anyways, at almost double the price. As far as the sponsor thing goes, I have looked through the entire sponsor list and didn't see Corbin or Saddleman. I understand there are sponsors that sell these products, but since they themselves are not sponsors on this board, why is their products supported here? This was just an attempt to help fellow badwebbers aware that there are more options then the ones we have currently. | ||

Bobby, if a company wants to advertise on here, they just need to contact us about being a sponsor. I contacted seat concepts regarding sponsorship a while back, and all they did was make up terrible excuses about why they can't become one, then they posted negative comments on here. They didn't even want to hear the cost for it either. Seems like a no-brainer to me to become a short term sponsor and pick up an instant hundred seat orders, but I guess I don't understand the seat business. About Corbin and Saddlemen, Corbin was at one time available through American Sport Bike, but he is currently working with Saddlemen on some new seats for us. |
