I bought a set of H7 HID's for my '09 CR. The low beam fits perfectly but the high beam doesn't fit in the socket. What gives? |

You have to cut the back of that black plastic piece to make it fit Search is your friend. These are DDM tuning HIDs. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/535426.html?1265000213 |

Buell specifies the same H7 bulb for high or low and they are obviously not the same. I should have worded my question: what is the industry recognized bulb designation for high beam on a CR? |

Correct. Both bulbs are H7 if you look at them. The socket is just different for some reason. (Message edited by Froggy on October 06, 2010) |

No the manual doesn't tell you how to modify the stock sockets for HID lights. They're not designed for it, therefor the factory won't include anything like that for liability reasons. It's pretty simple if you just take a second and look at it and how everything works in there. |

Ok, i'm seeing a lot of people are buying the DDM....exactly what do you select for the following options on the website: HID Harness? Error Eliminator? Adaptor cables? |

None. Just H7 bulb (assuming you are on a CR), you choice of color and wattage. Low beam drops right in, high beam has a different holder that needs slight modification. |

the common purchase for the R is the dual H8 bulb kit. i went with 35w , 6000k. it seems like they will send one of two different types of plugs that will go into the factory harness, and its your job to figure out and rig it to work correctly. i did a fair amount of cutting, squeezing, zip-tying and mounting taping in order to make the kit fit properly. it was definitely not 'designed for use in the 1125' |

For the CR, an aftermarket H7 bulb will not fit in the high beam socket without modification. What type of bulb does the Buell CR high beam really take (without modifying the socket)? |

I had no problems stuffing a PIAA Extreme H7 bulb in the high beam on my CR. It is indeed an H7, I took it out of my XB Lightning. It dropped right in with no modification. I did that instead of the HID as I wasn't sure at the time about modifying the holder. |

The CR hi beam IS an H7. You seem quite hell bent on disproving that...yet I put a Phillips Motovision in there with no problems. You have to realize that HID bulbs are not standard since they have that extra piece of plastic in the back with the wires... |
