Last month my 1125CR was stolen from the parking lot of my apartment complex. I was able to find another new one to secure as a replacement. Now I'm hoping to find a recommendation for a alarm system for the new one. I would like something that will provide tracking and alerts to a mobile phone by calling. this happens again I would love to go downstairs with Mr. Remington to chat with them. | ||

There is nothing worse than having your bike stolen, and watch the space where your bike used to be. When it comes to buying an alarm, make sure you buy something that is worth it, don't buy something that has a vibration sensor or a key switch sensor, your bike can be loaded up gently to a pick up truck with two guys within minutes. Plus, alarms can drain your battery very quickly. I would recommend a GPS type of system or a mobile phone calling one. There are other things that you can do to prevent a stolen bike like brake locks, always cover your bike with a bike cover when you don't use it, that way it draws less attention. | ||

Ewalk, I would highley recommend a cover for one. Mine was stolen out of my apt complex also. I feel you pain.. maybe worse cause I didnt get anything from insurance.. And still paying for the damn thing. I googled some stuff and found this. http://www.gps2000online.com/ There is also another system that is better than lojack and cost less, ill have to ask my friend about it tomm, I dont recall the name of the company right now. Also, my bike that got stolen... There was a gorilia alarm system in it. prob 18,000 miles on the bike and went through 3 batteries. | ||

I'm not one for alarms, locks, chains and to heavy and immovable objects, never had a bike or sports car stolen. When abroad I remove the ecu if it's left anywhere over night. | ||

Have you thought of a LoJack? It's a little pricey (I think mine cost about $900) but it will call, text, and email both me and my wife if the bike is moved more than about 30 feet w/o being in range of the key fob. | ||

It's not an alarm but how about something like this? http://www.gpswholesale.co.uk/products/smartgps/in dex.html Drop it under the seat (or somewhere hidden) at night and you have 20 hours to go and re-collect the bike.. There are bound to be other products about with better battery life. I kinda like this as 20 hours is enough time to round up some mates and go and recover the bike.. | ||

I currently us one of these. I have the XN18 model to be exact. And I must say that it does it job. 120 DB siren that is very annoying. Had a couple of punk kids brak into my garage a few months ago and I heard the alarm go off from the bedroom which was easily 150 feet away. Its very well built. All hardened stainless and heavy as hell. Id say it has to weigh close to 5 pounds. It fits easily in the trunk of my 1125. Thanks for the help so far Any body have any experience with scorpio alarms their rLink system looks interesting I'm thinking of this one ( http://www.rlink.com/store/index.php?route=product /product&path=35&product_id=226 ) with a perimeter sensor and starter disable. I figure without the Siren I can take the 12 Gauge down stairs and stop them if they don't know i'm coming. | ||

Before Buell, when I rode a Sportster, I used a SUZUKI bike cover. Worked very well, nobody ever even tried to steal it!!!! | ||

My bike was covered before had the Buell fortress cover I kept on it and I parked it in front of my jeep in the same parking spot. locks and chains are only as strong as a thief's set of bolt cutters. An acquaintance of mine when i was younger had a R6 that he chained to a bench one night when going out for dinner in the Metro Detroit area. when he got done with dinner not only was his bike gone but the bench disappeared too. nothing any of us do can prevent someone who really wants our bike from taking it if they want it but I would really love to find them after their gone and least expecting it. |
