Was just checking in on what is still one of my favorite forums and it is good to see lots of familiar names still here. I sold my Uly last spring and tried a DL1000 for all of about 2 months, not the bike for me! Then when I was beginning to be drawn to my local BMW dealer, I happened to try a KTM 990 SMT. WOW! This bike is has got me loving the sport again! Not quite as comfy as the Buell but what a blast to ride! Try one if you have a chance and if you find yourself without a Buell consider this bike as a possible replacement.

My thoughts exactly when I saw one at the local dealership. First impression upon sitting on it was that it is not as comfortable as the Uly but based on my experience with a 990A I can tell you it's one heck of a fun bike. Now get yourself some Wings mufflers. Not loud and they run a lot cooler than the stock mufflers with the built-in cats. |

I like it! All bikes with the mufflers way up high look strange now after having a Buell for awhile. |

Tried one out, wasn't as impressed as i expected, and at 6k revs i felt a strange vibration un expected from KTM, but well I love mY buell with all it's drawback, and advantages, one day the uly will turn in to a hard tail road runner. |

@ Union_Man that's because the DL is a Suzuki. |

My only hassle is an overly sensitive throttle, switching out the cam will fix that. Oh, and chain maintenance is a drag! Strok, you are right on, I have been comparing the Wings to the Akras, the wings are cheaper and as good if not better. Stock this bike has a sweet sound, imagine with pipes. Pontlee, no vibration on mine, but some owners are reporting vibes around 4000 rpm. Another surprising fact is my wife loves it and is very comfortable, as much as the Uly. The bike really gives you the impression of flight, a bit like the Multistrada. Again I have found it a worthy replacement for the Uly which is no easy task. The more bikes I tried the more I realized how good the Uly is, when Erik returns with the new and improved version it will be on the top of my list. |
