Has any one tried running the larger 08 oil cooler on an older bike I know that there was some concern about the ability of the older pump to supply the proper volume of oil. My Uly is showing HD tendency, He insists on marking his spot like a lost dog. First with a leaky rear head o-ring and now from the oil cooler. I wouldn't mind it to much my beast has been leaking from a compression release actuator for years. But this leak keeps pissing on my left boot. I dated a chick in high school and one of her dogs use to do the same thing. | ||

If I'm not wrong the lines are different, so that would be an extra cost, depending if they will fit, the difference in oil pumped is minimum, so I doubt that would cause any problem to the pump, and the 07 was an up grade from the 06 pump. | ||

The pre-08 coolers are six row with -AN fittings. The 08-up coolers are eight row, with jiffy-tite fittings. They are NOT compatible. Just get a new OEM cooler. I did on my '06, and the new part seems (as they all do) to be quite improved over the original one. Where on the cooler is it leaking from? Check the torque on your -AN fittings in case its leaking from a fitting and not the cooler itself. If you remove them, do NOT use any teflon tape on the threads. Clean the tapered section good, clean the mating surface in the line, and torque to spec. | ||

thanks rat just what I needed to know, but it defiantly is the cooler. I can see if pooling at the bottom I have cleaned and torqued the fittings and defiantly not leaking from them as there is no sign of oil at the fitting just leaking at the base of the cooler |
