You'll need to change the jets to get the advantage of the pipe. |

I ran 45/190 with 2.5 turns out when I had an SS2R on my S1W. Switched to the Buell race exhaust and upped to 48 slow. If you need a hand, I'm not too far away. Aluminum pipe? or carbon? If it's aluminum...safety-wire that bastard to the engine case to back up the mounting bracket. The welded-on shoe at the rear/top of the muffler, that goes to the bracket, LOVES to break loose. Won't pogo you or the bike into the sky...but if you don't catch the break quick, all that weight bounces around on the end of your header. And cracks your header. |

Make sure you install the rear bracket correctly. The Muffler should be snug to the engine not at a downward angle. The Stock Z bracket has to be removed and the V&H U bracket goes in it's place |

I had a SS2R on my S1 and loved it. I went to the Buell race pipe and lost midrange but picked up top end. I think for the average rider the SS2R is a better pipe for midrange power unless you do a lot of engine mods to compliment the pipe. I also had no mount breakage problems in over 25,000 miles that everyone talks about and this included track days too. |

A lot of the V&Hs were breaking because of improper installation. IE bolting the U bracket to the Z bracket or other installation faux pas... Just install, enjoy. Don't force anything into place, and make sure you have the updated front exhaust hanger |

Does anyone have the proper instalation instructions? I bought my bike with the SS2R already on it and the rear mount was bolted like spiderman said, and already broken. WEhat is the correct way? I'd like to get the V&H fixed and not have it break again. |

There are alternatives. D&D and Supertrapp still make pipes for the Tubers. Both are around $350 - $450. |

It is easy, remove Z bracket and replace with the U bracket that the V&H is attached to. Then attach the muffler to the U bracket. it'll look like this when done

I've had both V&H and D&D. D&D is an install and forget about it deal. Never needs repacking, and sounds a hell of a lot better as long as you don't mind loud. My V&H started blowing the glass out by around 5k miles. Once that starts, it may not be as loud as a D&D but the frequencies it puts out are twice as annoying as the deep, raspy grumble you get from a D&D. |
