I occasionally but rarely hit neutral when upshifting from first to second. It's due to lazy footing because it's happened on any bike I've ridden. The only bike I ever got false neutrals with in anything other than the 1-2 upshift was my '01 gsxr 600 track bike. I would fall out of fourth or not upshift into fourth. It ended up having worn shift forks and worn dogs. I installed new shift forks and a used set of gears. I also installed an upgraded shift star. After that, it was back to being perfect. Those of you having problems with false neutrals are probably either lazy footing it or might have trans issues. If you're not lazy footing, change your oil (I use Mobil1 15w50 exclusively with great results) to a good quality synthetic and see if that helps. |

If you use better oil than that Syn3 sh!t, you won't have to change it that often. I change mine every 10,000 clicks per the manual. Been going fine for the last 60,000 miles. |

I've found that the 2nd to 3rd shift on my 2009 R sometimes doesn't happen unless I "double-clutch" it. In other words, the lever won't budge, same as trying to upshift in 6th. If I let the clutch out, then pull it in again, it shifts fine. I had hoped that this shifting issue was due to the infamous clutch leak. I had to bleed the clutch to bring it back enough to ride the bike in for the new clutch piston kit; there was quite a bit of air. After the new clutch kit was installed yesterday, I put about 170 miles on, and the hard 2nd-3rd shift is still there, intermittently. I run Motul 300V full ester-based syn, IMO the best oil right now. Also, I own an 1125CR (no clutch leak yet) and its shifting is fine. I'm beginning to think that this 1125r was built on a Friday... |

Same issue from 2nd to 3rd as Greenflash - and I'm running Amsoil 20-50 w/< 3k on it. No other issues to date. |
