Replacing my head and base gaskets, had the orginal on, but the head leaked. Was going to order a new set from HD but after doing a search have found they are 0.050 in thickness, compared the the Cometic 0.030 set. Have also read an Nalin article that states to use no base gasket, only the head to get the correct deck height. Has anyone used the Cometic head and base gasket set @0.030? Should I use the base and head gaskets, or use Tribond on the base and just use the head gasket? |

If you are that concerned with the exact squish clearance, then you should do the test that nrhs outlines on their web site, using solder stuck on the tops of the pistons to get an exact dimension of squish, then you can decide the exact thickness you need for your optimum squish band. |
