hi i have a 97 s3 thunderbolt, vance and hines, forcewinder, dynojet installed.runs good. At 6500-7000 rpm according to the factory tach, in all gears, it seems to go into a rev limit and acts as if its out of fuel. is this normal for these bikes? or will it rev to 9000 rpm like it says on the tach?at what rpm will it make its best power? i haven't had v twin sport bikes before thanks for your help |

6800 RPM is where the rev limiter kicks in. The tach goes to 9000 RPM, but the engine won't get there, just like the 140 mph speedo. They gauges are made to read higher so you have better resolution of the lower numbers (the tach would be a pain to look at if it maxed out at 7k RPM). Typically, best power is close to max speed, but you'll find the bike has a very usable powerband across all speeds. |

The race ecm would let it rev to 7200. |
