Workman's H-D in Rock Falls, IL has the best seats(815-626-1213). You should be able to get a ticket at the Mile on race day, you just won't have quite as much choice as if you order early. You can also call the I.M.D.A. (the promoters) in Springfield (217-753-8866). I first went to see the Mile in May, 1984; I've been going back ever since. Without a doubt, it is the best and most exciting race of any type on the planet. Make sure you go into the pits after the race and get a good close look at the bikes. If you make it to the TT on Saturday night, you'll get to see the Blast ridden by Rich King (#80). If you go to the TT, seating is on a first come basis. . Look me up on Sunday; I'll be there with my wife and two daughters (Section NN, Row1, Seats 1-4) |

Oneway & Crusty, wouldn't miss the mile! I'm going to drag a good friend along for his first time at the races. Yay Rich King! Not sure where we'll be but it's somewhere in the middle maybe MM where we can see the whole track. A run through the twisties, a romp in the hay; a day at the Mile is right up there with the best in life! |

Oneway, Have you ever attended The Mile before? I can barely contain my enthusiasm, it's less than 10 days until I can sit in the grandstands and hear the 'train' rollin' down the backstretch headin' into turn 3, gettin' ready for that launch outta' turn 4 and the front stretch!! I've noticed that the Illinois Dept of Tourism has adopted a new slogan; the Illinois Mile as part of their newest advertising campaign...we all know it's really... THE SPRINGFIELD MILE! |

If you want to feel all the hairs on the back of your neck and arms stand up, stand on the outside of turn 4 when a pack of XR-750s pass by. Instant goosebumps! All you people in the midwest who haven't been to Springfield, have no idea what you've been missing. |

The Mile is damn near a religious experience . . . . . however, Peoria is the Highest of Holy Days . . . .. . . |

In a few hours, my family and I will be leaving for Springfield. Unfortunately, we'll be in the car, but the girls aren't old enough to ride that far, and if I took the bike and left them home they'd never forgive me. That's O.K., in three more years we'll all have licenses and we'll be able to travel as a group. THAT'S something to look forward to! Bomber, Peoria is pretty neat, but there's nothing that comes close to The Mile, IMO. Of course, you live close enough that you can go to both, you lucky SOB. Who knows, maybe someday I'll move to the midwest and be able to see so many neat races without it being a major expedition.
