I may have a stock S2 cleaner, I would have to look around, but it ain't pretty. I have an early race filter, but it is missing the allen bolts that attach it to the carb. It is a 8 outta 10. All are packed away right now an I wont be able to get to em for a bit since I am at a hotel cause my hardwood floors are being re-done |

Guys, the stock S-2 air cleaner was a K&N, and the race filter on later bikes was the same darn thing. No thicker for any more air, but at a different angle. Looks ugly on the S-2.Sure did not flow any better. |

I thought the race filter was about 2 times thicker. if memory serves me, the s2 had a k&n but it was about 1.5" thick and the race one was 3". I'd think that would make a difference right? |

All the factory race filters I put on were the same height as the S2 filter. Lots of people *put* a taller filter in there...but then your cover doesn't touch the standoffs and you can crack the CF if you overtighten them. Race filters are offset to the front, by way of offset bolts. S2 filters are mounted on angle (so they fit under the lowers on the T bikes, and reminiscent of the RS bikes style), have centered bolt holes, and are green CF like the S2 hugger. I used a Dremel on my S2 cover on the lower edge, to cut a notch in it and expose more filter element. Mainly for when I have my lowers on, but it works well even now, without the lowers, and you can't tell it's there at all. |

OK, it looks like I stand corrected. My S2 does have a "flatter" filter than both my S1W and her M2L, with the race cans. Sorry to mislead. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program |

yep. taller standoffs on the race filter keep you from cracking the cover... |

there are still a few on the shelves out there, not many!! they list for 165.00, i'd need at least 125.00 to sell it. probably hold onto it for awhile, should have taken it to homecoming to have Erik sign it!!! then i would never sell it!!! |

Is your backplate the standard Race style with the close standoffs or is it an NRHS piece with the S2/XL style standoffs? |

Its offset like the race one. I got a setup from a Guy on another board (custom streetfighters) but the filter is mashed and the cover is so thin that it is too flimsy to hold the filter tight to the backing plate. Its apparently that import crap CF you see on eBay... useless... |
