Anybody running Dunlop 220s on thier XB? If so, how are they working out... I gotta get more miles out of a rear othen than the 2900-3100Mi from the stock rear.... Change the oil, change the tire...jeez... | ||

I ran a D220 rear on my Cyclone, and was not very happy with it. Slid all over until it warmed up, and had a big chunk delaminate down the center when the tire was still servicable (others have seen the same thing). It did not wear any better then the tire it replaced (D205 or D207, can't remember which, it was the less sticky dual compound sport touring one, I think the D205), and performed worse. I am now running the Metzler Road Tech (MeZ6 I think). Much better then the dunlops so far, and wearing better as well. I think it would be a good tire for a XB, though none of the sport touring tires will grip as well as the pure sport tires. Of course they will last twice as long though... | ||

I had the D220's on my Firebolt and they sucked. Just like Reepi say's. They take FOREVER to warm up, slide all over, and don't last any longer than the other tire's I've tried. Don't waste your money. | ||

The consensus seems to be that stock D207's are pretty worthless anyway. I would agree with that. The D208's (replacement for discontinued D207) are not much better than D207's, so I hear. Haven't tried the D220's, instead I got a set of Sportecs on now and Diablo's waiting for the next change. Get a good tire like the Sportec M1's. They will last a bit longer than stock D207's and perform better in the twisties. Mike. | ||

I loved my D208s - would get another set without a second thought. Next tires will be Sportecs or Diablos, though, and until I've used all three I won't settle on one! | ||

I have about 500 miles on the Dunlop 220's. IMHO, they're better than the stock 207's. Mileage should be better and they were also less expensive, but I didn't buy based on price. I think your riding style should dictate what type of tire you get. If you need to see how close the pegs can get to the pavement, then get a super grippy tire. Otherwise, a sport-touring tire makes more sense. And of course, YMMV. | ||

No 220s but I have used BT020. Rear has been great (7k miles now) but front cupped badly after about 3k miles. I have zince moved to Metzeler Z4 front and Z6 back (waiting to be mounted). | ||

i LOVE my new M1's actually scraped a knee the other day never woulda dared to come even close to that with the stock 207s my freind has the 208s on his R1 he dont dare to corner ANYWERE NEAR as low as i go | ||

Just as an FYI I have a set of Conti M-Force radials on their way. I love my Diablo's but with all the highway milage I have been laying down the rear is just squaring off too much. The M-Force are sporttouring tires so I will see what happens with them. | ||

420 Maybe I'm missing something, but I've scraped my knees since day one on my 12R with the 207s -- 75-85 mph turns on my favorite run, and still feel like I've got traction left. I make sure to warm them up well, then go for it. Yes, if I was doing track days all the time I'd switch, but I've got no complaints with the 207's for everyday riding. The again, I'm 50, weigh 230 so maybe I got the suspension all ready squished so low it's easy to slide a knee, and maybe I'm having senior moments and forget to slow down and forget that I'm power sliding all over those curves since it's just so damn fun! | ||

You have to ride on a set of Metzeler Sportec M1's to see how much better the ride feels than stock D207's. But I will say the D207's had very good grip, just like the M1's. It just seems like the M1's give me more confidence when I lean. Haven't ridden the M1's in rain yet to see how they compare under those conditions. Then again, maybe I just rode the D207's longer than I should have and I'm judging them based on their condition after 4778 miles! That rear tire was paper thin when I replaced it. I'm curious to see if I get any cupping on the front M1 like I saw with the D207. Mike. | ||

i rode my M1's in the rain today (woohoo now i can ride at night AND carry passangers) just as grippy as if it wasnt raining ok what the hell is cupping? |
