Hey Guys!
Not new to reading badweb, but new to posting. I've been following Buell motorcycles since I was in college in Milwaukee. I once roomed with a designer for Buell. We somehow had one of the new XB9's in the garage before the dealer launch back in 2001. I also went to school with one of the lead engineers/CCS Buell racers. Somehow I managed to get mixed up with some awesome Buellers... I've been to homecoming once and a factory tour once, though I've been on a Honda or Kawasaki for both. Got to have lunch with Mr. Buell and even ran into him last summer at Road America.
Given all that, I have great admiration for the bikes, the culture.. just the whole Buell family. Gotta love how the group pulls together after such a huge kick in the nuts. Love it how Eric Buell racing is off the ground.. I knew he wasn't done.. no chance.. no way. Not going to roll over.

My first intro got lost, so will try this again.
If you count a schwinn with a whizzer motor a MC, I started riding when I was 13.
That makes this my 50th year on bikes.
I have had in no particular order, 5 Honda's, 4 Harleys, 3 Trumpets, Cushman, Mustang, Allstate, Bridgstone, Vespa, Greeves, Husqavarna, and there is something I am forgetting.
Somewhere in the over 500,000 mile combined range.
Right now I have a 89 FLT HD that is the victem of a bipostal bitch's rath, and is in baskets until I get time to put it in the shop. I also got tired of being restricted to just pavement after so much time spent in the dirt. Looked at all the dual sports offered. Picked the Uly and not sorry. Thanks for all the help with tweaking this ride.

Hi Everyone,
Just joined. I live in Ireland and ride a 2008 Model XB12XT.

I've also 3 old BMW airhead bikes and 2 old Honda CX500's. So the Buell is the newest and most powerful bike in my shed.

I do a lot of my own spannering.

I'e done a few mods to my XT as follows;
FS Tensioner
Breather mod - just to ground
Gearbox output shaft oiler nipple
Palmer axle sliders
Palmer bar end weights
Palmer mudguard extension (still not long enough).
I've also a Special Ops heat barrier to install under my airbox.

Cheers,
Eric.

Welcome Eric! Great to have you here!

What is the gearbox output shaft oiler nipple? I have not heard of that mod before, and can't picture what it would be... Maybe a zerk fitting for the 5th gear drive assembly?

Hi all,

The 96 S1 has been in the garage for 5 years since the kids started arriving : ) The wife has finally relented to dragging it back out into the light. All it took was a charity bike ride that was close to her heart...who knew! I'll have a few questions over in the forums to get the beast up and running, and looking better than before...

New to the forum. Been reading it for a few months. Plenty of good information, little confusing how it's laid out.

Getting ready to pick up a 2009 1125cr in a couple weeks and putting the 2003 xb9r I bought in October up for sale.

I'm in KC, so hello to any locals.

I'll guess I'll join the fun..

Picked up an 04 Blast last summer for pennies on the dollar and put a couple hundred miles on it. First m/c ever. I absolutely love it.

Already got my ride into work mapped out (sans highway riding) and here in CT I am looking at a rainy weekend on the way (oil change and new spark plug) and then some nicer weather mid-week (finally riding the thing to the office).

My wife was so jazzed on the bike that she went and took the beginner rider course also and is shopping around for her own bike now.. Not sure if it will be a Buell or not.

Have been on here a bunch poking around through the stories and tutorials.. Tons of great info and some knowlegeable folks out there and let me say I appreciate the time and effort and detail you put into your posts.

That's all for now! See you on the backroads!

Eric

New here, stumbled onto the site while changing my oil.

Got my first (dirt)bike (Yamaha TTR-90) when I turned 13, then another (TTR-225) when I turned 14. Took the safety course and got my M/C license 2 days after turning 15 although I already got my first streetbike (2003 Kawasaki Ninja 250) for my birthday. Sold it 3 years later for a 2005 XB12S. Sold that beauty a year after in exchange for a wife.

Just got back on two wheels about a month ago with a 2006 XB12Ss.

I'm glad there's a reliable source of information now that Buell has gone away. Anyway, see you soon.

Hi there...having an issue with registration so i'll post here and maybe someone can help me.
I bought a 2001 Blast last spring. Took it on one ride and it ran fine. Next ride, 15-20 minutes into the ride it sputtered a bit and then died at 50 mph. After it sat a while it started up again. Next ride to work it died a bit sooner than the last time. (lights work when it dies so not a battery issue) Took it to a local shop, they checked everything and said it all looked fine and the bike is "mint". So I ran it again and it died even sooner. Found your web site with the info on the ignition module on the 2001 Blast. Let the shop drive it and it died even sooner than the last time but they said the light was still blinking on the module. Everything points to the module though....do I change the module anyhow and see what happens? Can't find anything else wrong. Do I turn it into expensive art decco? sigh....thank you for any help!

hello everybody,
I've been reading the badweb for some time but never posted.
As my nickname says, I'm from Paris, France.
I'm a computer science engineer but ride bikes and rebuilt them since I'm 14. But that doesn't make me a professional mechanic !
lol

I've been rebuilding my S1-WL last year and recently transformed a M2 into a S1-like for a friend.

You'll find both stories here :

http://buell.actifforum.com/nos-buell-f25/s1wl-bla nchette-is-back-on-the-roads-page-17-t16690.htm

http://buell.actifforum.com/buell-personnalisee-f5 /transfo-m2-en-s1-une-s1-qui-s-ignore-t19846.htm#4 47353

It's in french but I'm sure the pictures tell the story as well.
There is a link at the end of each episod leading to the next one, so you won't need to look at all pages.

Hi everyone,

I've been lurking here for a bit and decided to finally sign up. I used to love Harleys when I was in high school but I wanted something built more like a racebike. I used to say, "Man, how cool would it be if Harley make a sportbike so I could have something that looked fast but didn't sound like a kazoo!" Little did I know that just because Harley didn't make one didn't mean someone smarter didn't do it.

I saw my first Buell in the back of pickup in a hotel parking lot while out of town competing in the state championship track meet. My best friend told me it was a "Boo-ell" which he said was a H-D race bike. I didn't know Americans made a sportbike but I knew I had to get one. I remember being practically laughed out of the local H-D shop when I inquired about them. It took me a little over a decade but I finally got my hands on one after a strange turn of events. I couldn't have asked for more fun. I love every bit of it.

Shane, stop by C3 (Carolina Corner Carvers) in the Storm Fronts section. Our 'members' pretty much cover NC, with honorary 'members' in most of the adjoining states. There are some in the Raleigh/Cary/Apex area near you, there are some in Eastern NC like me, basically anywhere in NC you might stumble upon some of us.

Welcome to BadWeB!

Hello everybody,

My name is Michiel and I live in Vlissingen, Netherlands. Having already joined the Dutch Buell forum and the UK Buell Enthusiasts Group I thought it was about time to say hello on BadWeb.

I ride a 2008 XB9SX. Last year I had it stage 1 tuned at Twin Motorcycles in IJsselstein: torque hammer exhaust, 2007 XB12 headers, K&N peformance air filter and ECM remap. I also spent the winter changing the appearance of the bike by mounting stealth axle sliders, LED tail light, Rizoma mirrors, indicators and tail piece.

Hope to meet up with you guys some day!

Hi Just joined.

After lusting after a firebolt for a while I took the plunge at the end of last summer and bought an 06 plate (05 model year) red XB12R. I managed to get a couple of thousand miles in before winter set in - fantastic. The bike always brings a grin even before I fire it up! I even went touring on it, well just a blast across the channel to the WW2 rocket sites in France. If you are interested the pics are posted on the touring section of http://www.redzed.proboards.com/

This forum looks great - and gave me the prompt to get my headlights replaced foc on a recall last year

I currently have an issue with front brake judder and so will explore the site and maybe post a question.

bye for now

Hello all,

I am kind of new to this site but from what I have read, this is the place I want to be. I have been a buell lover for as many long years, learned on a blast and took a couple trips on a nice 98 lightening. But I have a question for everyone here. I am looking at finally getting my own buell but the problem I am facing is that there is an 04 xb12r and an 08 1125r. I have been doing a lot of checking and now Im not sure which is better. The 1125 seems to have some flaws.

So what is everyone here's two sence on the issue?

Hi Fallen,

Like you I have just signed up. The 1125 is a fine motorcycle, but for me the XB12R is the classic and would be my choice. I recommend that you go for post 06 model year xb12R. You lucky guys in USA had a final model update for the Buell - that's the one I would go for

Hello Fellow Buellophiles,

I am new to this site and this is my first posting. After three years, of dreaming, drooling, and begging my wife; I am finally the proud owner of a brand new 2008 1125R. The the only accurate way I can describe her is "sex on two wheels"! I have managed to clock over six hundred miles on her since I picked her up on St. Patrick's Day. That may not impress you until you realize that I have not taken any trip longer than an hour and that I live in N.E. Ohio. I have big plans to drag race her and due some novice track time at Nelson Ledges and/or Mid Ohio this season. The first trick I need to learn is how to keep the front wheel on the ground!

Best Regards,

Chris
