Hey all, I am going to undertake the task of paining my Cyclone. The bike was painted by the previous owner and the tank bubbled. I had it soda blasted and it needs alot of spot repair and prep.. it is pretty pocked from the blasting. I will be painting the tank, front fender, tail section (airtech fiberglass) and fly screen. I would like to do a semi-gloss black. Anyone who has done this successfully, do you have any tips for painting the tank? Prep to prevent bubbling? I will be using aerosol paints. Thanks in advance! Frank. (Message edited by truth on July 20, 2010) (Message edited by truth on July 21, 2010) |

Frank, I'm going to be painting some body work and I'm going to follow the recommended materials listed on this link: My 2000 M2 doesn't have any bubbling but I'm going to paint a separate set of body work using this formula. But, that's not a aerosol job... below further down is some links that might have usefulness though I haven't tried any. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/385208.html?1265237730 I thought about sealing the tank from the inside but I just feel that's a metal tank only solution. The urethane is flexible so you don't need a flex agent. Besides prep, there's the flexibility and fume permeating issue. Some dirt riders are apparently using "fusion" in a can but I have no experience with that on a tank that bleeds fumes.
