Well IMHO You can go three ways. 1. If you know a reputable shop that can bore and hone your cyl to 10 over. (the reason I say reputable is cause I have been burned before they didn't use tourqe plates) Get 10 over piston and rings, a top end gasket kit and check the heads to see if you could use new guides and seats. Replace if needed. 2. Instead of getting the cyl bored, buy new cyl and rings. Keep the pistons and do all the rest. Gaskets, inspect the heads ETC... 3. If you want to go all out. You can go two ways buy XB heads and pistons OR get the 2004 and newer Sportster heads and Cylinders (these will match how the stock S2's cyl and heads looked) XB12 pistons complete the 10 to 1 comp ratio and all the needed gaskets. The rocker boxes and all will match up BUT you will need a new front motor mount to match the heads narrower bolt pattern... It depends on how you wanna go HP wise and money wise. The first two will probably be equal in price but number 3 will probably cost a lot more. I haven't been in the dealer loop in a while so I can't even begin to guess price, sorry... |
