Got the ECM spy program and a cable. Hooked everything up and other than a problem getting the Com port established, I hit no snags. Downloaded a few maps over two nights and saved them and read everything I could find in on ECMspy to get ready to rid myself of some decel popping. Took the bike out and warmed it up the next day and returned to the garage. Hooked up the computer and the cable was recognized as hardware. Hooked to the bike with the ignition and kill switch in teh ON position and COM port 2 opened. I waited but got nothing for several minutes. Checked the Com ports and all looked good. Decided to see if I could "fetch the EPROM map" and "Transmission timed out". Over the last 24 hours I have switched COM ports, used auto detect, uninstalled and reinstalled ECMspy and the drivers, checked and rechecked the ignition and kill switch, and checked to ensure the connectors of the plug were inserted all the way into the tip of the plug. Tried a short run of data logging as I had read in another post that discussed a similar problem but that did nothing. Can't do the Hyperterm trial that Gunter spoke of without dismantling the cable. Even tried the program on a different lap top. Any idea why the program would work fine for two days then suddenly give me a transmission timed out! |

The only two things I could think of are, is the COM port you are using configured properly? and did you install the drivers for the special USB chip the cable has? Hope you figure it out. |

Can't do the Hyperterm trial that Gunter spoke of without dismantling the cable. Yeah you can, get a paperclip or piece of wire between the Tx and Tx pins on the plug... |
