looking at an 09' with the lower fairing kit on it. The bike only has 800 miles. I noticed the right side area that has the additional heat shield protection on it, where the closest part meets the muffler it is already brown & ripped. Will this eventually melt the fairing? Is there a fix for this, adding more insulation? |

Yes it will melt the fairing and yes there is a fix. You can add 1/4" spacers to the fairing mount bolts, bend the fairing mount tabs out so there is a 1/4" gap between the heat shield and pipe, and you can also use a different heat shielding. |

it's a common issue, as suggested bend the lower mounts out and add a spacer. Either replace the heatshield with some Thermotec (or similar) shielding or just put the Thermotec over the top of the existing shield.. |
