Hows the fuel injection mapping? Does it fell like a tuned carb bike? So far its seemless. No hiccups or glitches at all. Nice bike Dyna be safe man, been awhile since you've been on something anywhere near a sportbike for some serious seat time, hasn't it??? been quite awhile as I never considered the X1 a true sportbike. Believe me when I say I am taking baby steps with this beastie You gonna put Sampson's on the R1 and buzz Koz's neighborhood??? LOL No changing pipes or anything else mechanically. Its not like I need more power. Will be adding some sliders & a tail eliminator tho On the humorous side, when are you going to paint the green on the storm door to match the stairs and shutter or are you going to do it the other way around??? LMAO Was waiting for someone to say something. Door is on order. They didnt have the full view larson in cranberry in stock. Don't that sucker go over 100 mph in FIRST GEAR? Dont know yet, but im sure it does a lot more than that. He is never going to respond... He probably found some other foriegn website that runs faster and cheaper then badweb.... Wrong ole Kozmeister. You guys wont get rid of me that easily. I have made too many friends thru Buelling. Dyna, I am curious about what your insurance will change with that bike. If you don't want to post it, drop me an email. I have a friend who is thinking of getting an R1 but is worried about the cost. I was worried too. Went to my American family agent & he went thru the numbers & it came to $1387 a year..still quite a bit, but he & I are doing some haggling too. Not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. i thought you were looking at the red one? I was, but those are gone before they even come off the truck. Local dealer just traded a red one for 3 Busa's.

or glitches at all. I haven't owned a Yamaha since '78... Congrats again Dyna. Are ya gonna bring it to the Runnin' of the Ridge? That bike would love it there, as would you, but you knew that already. |

The only reason she got it for you is so she can have her Harley back! LMFAO!!!!! You are the only one who figured it out. She was so pissed about last year having only 1 bike & she didnt ride at all. She was bound & determined that it wasnt going to be another summer of her not riding. She knows I prefer sportbikes over the HD style..although I do love the sound of drag pips...& she knew if there is an R1 in the garage that the HD would be hers again. You win the Kewpie doll prize. PS..you musta paid attention last year during the 20th & heard her bitching

Here's a pic of my Odd Couple BTW, I liked riding my X1 & thought it took corners very well, but this bike is intuitive. I just think about going thru a corner & it almost does it for me. The front end is very planted, very secure feeling bike. |

"this bike is intuitive. I just think about going thru a corner & it almost does it for me. The front end is very planted, very secure feeling bike." Yea so much for HD,but what about the Yamaha's abilities. |

That's a pretty decent price for insurance. More than one of the new literbikes will exceed 100 mph in first gear. Keep us updated as you ride it, Dyna.

Too damn busy working to ride it much....will put some miles on this weekend. Have done about 130 miles so far & im liking it more & more. The front end is so planted & secure & the chassis is extremely stable at any speed. Maybe the self adjusting steering stabilizer has something to do with that? Funny thing is some guy on the way to work this morning on his TC HD dyna lowrider actually tried to race me off a stoplight. Guy disappeared in my mirrors like a vanishing point & I didnt even get on it hard at all but the front tire was doing that sweet little dance where its just barely kissing the ground. Need or actually not need, but want to get a double bubble windscreen for it. |

I have HD guys try to race me a lot. I think when they get thier pipes on, they think they gain about 50 rwhp. They don't realize they are riidng a fat, underpowerd motorcycle. To beat an R1 in a fair contest, a Dyna would probably have to be putting 160-180 rwhp MINIMUM down at the rear wheel.

To beat an R1 in a fair contest, a Dyna would probably have to be putting 160-180 rwhp MINIMUM down at the rear wheel. that dyna has at least 100lbs on an R1, not to mention a 5 speed, and a smaller rear tire. im thinking a lot closer to 200 rwhp would be needed to put a dyna into the 9's, but thats just my speculation |

Actually, a Dyna is at least 200 lbs. heavier than an R1. But even with a big motor, the Dyna would be easier to launch. That, and trying to be nice, made me say the 160-180. 200 is probably closer.

Oh god is the Dyna easier to launch. On mine its just rev the motor & dump the clutch. The rear tire will spin for a bit & the bike will get a little sideways but it straightens itself right out. Try that on the R1 & I would be dead. You definitely need to eeeaaassseee it off the line. I could see where a Buell would get the jump on me from a light, but within an extremely short amount of time the R1 would catch up. |

And Big is right, the Dyna weighs over 200 lbs more. R1 fully gassed is something 450 lbs, my Dyna fully gassed is 658 lbs. |

yeah, i was just conservative on the numbers, i was kinda thinking the dyna was 200 heavier. everyone seems to think that you cant launch a rocket, that they just wheelie, i race my buddy on his gixxer and leave him 20 feet behind of the first 40 cause he cant launch. when we switch, i can spin the tire on his under launch, and leave my buell behind. you just gotta have some upper body weight/strentgh, big balls, and no mercy for the clutch. of course, he hates it when i do that. |

Mini review on the R1. Put 200 miles on her today so now im up to a whopping 400 miles total. The more I ride it the less I notice any heat coming off the exhaust. The seat is a cruel joke though, after 150 miles my butt was starting to get rather numb. Front end is superb & well planted, but I definitely need to readjust the rear shock, it will wallow just a bit when leaned over. Gas mileage seems to be pretty good, averaged over 80mph today & still saw 43.8mpg. Have only taken it over 8K rpms 1 time & that was just to see what she would do in 6th gear. 80 mph in 6th simply twist the throttle slightly & within scant seconds the speedo had warped to over 130mph & the bike felt like it was just idling. On the way back from Road america had some kid on a CBR600F3 think he could out accelerate me from 75mph....he wasnt even close As far as ergos go its pretty comfy, my back & legs are fine as are my wrists. Neck is a little sore but thats more so because I dont usually wear a helmet on the Harley but on the R1 it seems like a requirement, so my head needs to get used to the weight of it as well as the wind buffeting it. Wind protection is pretty decent so long as you tuck down, but try to sit up even halfway normally & the wind blast to your head & chest will quickly tire you out. The Double Bubble shield I ordered should help that a lot. Thats about all I can think of right now.
