We after 4,000 miles I figured it was time to check the airfilter. I removed the covers and pulled the airfilter out. To my surprise there was a ton of sand and grit BEHIND the filter. It was all over the throttle bodies, and covering the inside of the airbox. Now I know why the TB's have been feeling kind of gritty and the throttle has been sticking sometimes. After removing the screws, the wiring harness, and the rubber thing that seals the TB's to the the airbox, I pulled up on the airbox assembly and to my surprise it was split. Appears to be made from two seperate pieces glued together. Its split right at the seam. You can see where the dirty air has been leaking right through the seam. Does anyone have any ideas? Im hoping this didnt cause and serious damage to the motor, but the sticking, gritty TB's have me very worried. Should my warranty cover this? |

Yes warranty will cover that, there is one other guy that had the same thing happen to his airbox. I wouldn't worry about the engine though. |

Good, so I'm not the only one. Thanks Froggy. Run her till she blows, then get an 1190 kit. |

I have a few busted hold-down tabs on my airbox cover--i think at least one occured when bike was in for harness recall (can't be sure, and I got the bike with 800 miles on it). Would that be warranty item? Bike has 1600 miles on it or thereabouts. |

You can try and see, but I can't say for sure if it will be covered, they might blame you and say you didn't install it right. The issue with Junky's airbox is a manufacturing defect, so it is covered. |

Been there and done that twice. First time under warranty, the last time silicone sealer fixed it. |
