Show of hands - Which do you hear more often (about your XB)? "Nice bike!" or "You got a headlight out..."

I usually get WHAT IS THAT?!?!?! Most people do a double take when I tell them there is a Harley motor in there and they ask if I did it myself...yeah right! |

"headlight out" and since I do alot of night riding I don't want to have both on for when I flash the truckers to keep from getting moooshed. |

Damn, I'll have to keep count now... ...probably more comments on the bikes than the headlights - I'm usually beside or in front of people, not behind them! |

"...I'm usually beside or in front of people, not behind them!" Good point! Shoulda thrown one more in. I still get a "Your bike's still running" now & then.

Two rural locals in a pickup truck (they just threw a 12-pack in the back) today asked if my bike (XB9S) was a Harley, having heard me start it up. They circled the Buell as they checked it out. Their missing-teeth smile was priceless when I explained the handling and acceleration and the need for sensible riding to avoid the cops. We had a good laugh at that. |

A few "nice bikes" and one "what's that", oh, and my wife just last week was the first to tell me my light was out!! I almost fell off my bike laughing, she wasn't amused. |

I ride with both lights burning on my 9R during daylight too, just to avoid those helpful comments. What's really funny though is when you're within 100 miles of East Troy, it clearly says "American Motorcycles" on the tank and people ask, "Where is it made?". When you tell them right up the road in East Troy they just can't believe it. LOL!

I kinda liked 420's reply that he built it himself. I'd use that if I thought I could deliver it with a straight face.

We commented this weekend that a very common question from people that seem to know about bikes is, "How do you like those Buells?". Which is a dumb thing to ask 3 guys that just stopped after riding 500+ miles and have ear to ear grins that will last until next Friday. To borrow something we used to say about parachuting, "It's the most fun you can have with your pants on". |

As long as nobody says, "Hey, not a bad bike, for a Harley" Then I really get ticked off. Anyone ever get, "Where's the muffler?"? Heard that from two sport bikers recently. Mike. |

That underslung muffler does make for a beautiful clean tail that everyone else has to sink money into for an aftermarket solution edited by midknyte on May 19, 2004 |

I usually get a . . . "Yo, that bike is hot!" followed by a . . . "What size is it?" which then triggers either a . . . "Dayum it looks small" or a "How fast do it go" I think I'm hanging out in the wrong areas. Mike L. '04 XB12R Firebolt '94 FMII Turbo Miata (for sale) |

I have a 99 S3T. The scratchy rattle of the headlight is driving me nuts plus I'm into round headlights. Does anyone out there know if a large round headlight off one of the other Buells can be mounted onto my S3T. I realize that I'll have to lose the fairing. I have other ideas for that. Thanks} |

You can certainly mount up a Lightning front end treatment. |
