I pulled the bike out of the garage yesterday to go for a ride, pulled in the clutch lever and there was pressure in the lever. I checked the reservoir and it was empty. I went and checked the clutch cover and there was no visible leak. I checked the garage floor and there was no puddle. Due to the clutch leak issue that I have heard about with these bikes, I made it a point to check my fluid on a weekly basis and did not notice anything odd about it last Monday. I called and talked to the tech at the local deal today and he had no clue what the issue might be. So, I am wondering if anyone else had this issue and if there is a way to resolve it. P.S: The interesting thing was that I was able to ride all day on Saturday with no issue at all. |

Did you mean to write that the clutch lever didn't require force to pull in? Chris |

If it didn't leak out through the puck, then it's mixed in with your oil. It didn't just disappear. I assume you removed the reservoir cover and there was no fluid? You added fluid right? |

When you said the reservoir was empty - did you actually pull the cover and look inside, or did you just check the sight glass? In either case, better make sure there's juice in the box. You have to have something in there, or the clutch won't work, right? |

I opened the cover and discovered that there was no fluid left in the reservoir. I added fluid and bled the line. The clutch is working fine for now. However, I noticed that the clutch lever felt a little lighter and it is harder to shift while I was riding today. I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow and asking them if I can drop it off and have them observe the bike for a few days. I'll also be bringing up the possible internal leak during the call tomorrow and see how they respond. Thanks guys for the suggestions. |

Update: Today, it drained almost completely while I was at work. I was able to ride the bike to the dealer. The tech looked at it and he told me that the boot in the master cylinder is what actually leaking. The part is backed order and they won't be able to get it until after 7/16. In the mean time, I'm told that I can keep on riding as long as I keep refilling the fluid every other day or so. |

So it's leaking up by the handle bars and you never noticed? I'm confused. |

I also ended up with an empty reservoir last Friday. I also filled it up (and bled). Similarly, I think the pull on my clutch lever is a little light and the friction zone is definitely in a different place. Mine is leaking fluid at the puck. My daily commute is about 20 miles (each way) and am loosing about a tablespoon of fluid a day. I had the service work to replace the clutch cover, gasket etc last year - but am now having exactly the same symptoms. |
