Where can I buy oil/filters online? Also what are the filter size/parts numbers,etc.. for the xb12. The service manual and owners manual don't list them...

thanks in advance

Jason,

I don't have the part numbers, but all current Buells use the same oil filters. Yes, even the Blasts.

Apparently you can get the exact same filter from Wal-Mart for less than half the price. Run a search for, say, "wal oil filter" and see if you can turn it up.

As for oil, just Google whatever brand/type you're looking for and see what pops up. I'm sure you can find someplace that sells a suitable filter and synthetic oil online.

ST4967 is the oil filter # at Wally World. $1.97 last time I checked. Same factory, same filter, no joke. Just peel off the sticker and your Buell mechanic will never notice a thing. Some Toyotas use this filter. Buy it at Wal-Mart and help them to keep bringing in more Chinese made goods than anyone on the planet.

Or you can support your Buell/HD shop and pay $8.75 for the same one. That keeps a guy or gal employed and perhaps more inventory in stock.

Bosch 3311
Mobil 1 M1-103
K&N HP-100B
STP 4967
AC Delco UPF 1233

I currently run the STP filter. I have used the Wal-Mart Super Tech oil filter. It is the only oil filter I have crushed with the filter wrench. FWIW.

I can say I've used the ST4967 filter since the third oil change.

I pulled them both apart, and they are indeed identical.

Why pay 9 bucks for a filter you can get for 2? Even if it's at Wally World... cause we're all Buell cheap skates! LOL

they are the SAME filter.

I am not sure so don't flame on me but wouldn't that create a warranty issue? Jason has a XB12 so he's got a 2 year warranty to consider.

and we've all got engines and riding seasons to consider . . . . . . . even at 9 bucks, I figure it's cheap insurance (and I've got so many holes blown through my extended warrenty, I wouldn't even try to use it anymore)

Using different brand of oil filter is like using different brand of oil. As long as the filter is equal to or exceeds the filtering requirement, there shouldn't be any warranty issue, per the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Actually, there is NO issue with using an equivalent filter in so far as it matches or exceeds the manufacturer's specifications. All this is laid out in the Tie-In Sales section of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

If any HD or Buell (or any MC or auto dealer) shop tells you have to use their parts,(or that if you do your own scheduled services as per the owners manual you'll void the warranty) just smile and say. B-S_!
