Just received my Ebr race ecm but no installation instructions came with it. I emailed Ebr for advise & received the reply below - 'Just swap. It is not necessary even to disconnect the battery if you leave the key off. Do the TPS reset, which is the quick 2 minute no tool method'. The way I reset the TPS takes 10 seconds! Is there another method other than rolling the throttle on & off 3 times? |

Nope, but if you already knew why did you ask? And believe us, if we told some one it took ten seconds, they would claim that was ridiculous. |

10 seconds is ridiculous, it takes me 15! |

It does take 2 mins... but then again 1 min 50 of that is walking to the garage.. |

I got and followed a different procedure when I asked the swap question of Erik Buell Racing. Mine was disconnect battery, swap ECM, no need to do a TPS reset, reconnect battery and fire it up. Worked like a charm! Mike |

The procedure is to pause for a second at WOT and at closed throttle three times, so about 6-10 seconds. EB doesn't really need to send directions, do they? I mean, all this is covered in the 1125R service manual, right? Not beating up on Baboo, but I would think the expectation is that if you know enough about your bike to be doing performance mods, then you should know how to remove and replace a component. Some say disconnect battery, some don't. Anyone who has fried a chip would probably take the battery disconnect approach, although that may be overkill (I call it cheap insurance). |

I would do the TPS reset, heck, it's so easy there's no reason not to. When I first installed my Erik Buell Racing ECM I looked at the TPS percentage for fun, and at WOT it was only reading 52%. After reset, 100%. Do it, it's simple. |

Millenium - In my case, I have swapped out ECMs several times. I found that if you do not do TPS reset, the bike will start and idle fine, but as soon as you goose the throttle, it dies. After TPS reset, all is well with the world. |

Stirz, I had read that too. Mine started up fine and ran like nobody's business! I was ready to do the TPS reset, but after seeing it was 2% / 100% and 0.4V / 3.9V just like it was before, I thought I'd skip the reset and see what happened. Worked great. I too disconnect my battery since it only takes a few seconds. I burned a module in a car once not taking the extra just-in-case step of disconnecting power. This was right before I was supposed to be in the staging lanes ... No race for me that night! Mike |
